Scams caregivers
I don't know how it is from the pet owner's POV but for caregivers, this is a scam. I would be interested to know how much of Wag's revenue comes from their caregivers versus their ostensible customers. I tried signing up and before I even finished they put the hard sell on me not once but twice to upgrade. Once telling me that there were delays on background checks (base cost $50), but if I added $20 I could skip to the front of the line. Second, they "offered" me a business account for $150, saying that this offer would only be made once. That's a used car dealer tactic. My friends and contacts who kindly agreed to give me endorsements were hit up to pay for "super" and "premium" endorsements. Obviously this is the reason they allow friends and family members as references - Mom is always good for a few bucks right? Your endorsers have to download the app in order to recommend you. The first of my friends to do it had an authorization immediately put on his card. I said, "Why did you give them your card?!" That's crazy. Their reviews on the app store are padded by a link they provide caregivers to "rate the pet" they walked. I guess people didn't realize it was for the app? Several went back and amended when they realized the scam. This is an extremely shady company. Do what you want, but I'm staying far, far away.
