This was the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. I ordered a birth certificate from them, received five different error emails from them, spent hours on hold, and finally, THREE WEEKS later, told them to cancel my order and refund my money. It was like dealing with a scam. I can’t believe South Carolina has them as one of their recommended sites to use. These guys are a fraud.

NOT FIT TO SERVE THE PUBLIC ON BEHALF OF STATE AGENCIES!
I ordered a death certificate from Vitalcheck which is (supposedly) a LEXIS NEXIS company. I gotta say, I'm even considering changing over to TLO and ending my LN contract my company has after this experience - it was that bad.
I uploaded the required docs.
Then I received conflicting information:
1. An email that says signatures are missing from an identity doc I wasn't required to provide.
2. An email that says everything is all good and my request processing.
After being in queue for over 48 minutes, my "very important call" was finally answered by "Ari" who promptly HUNG UP ON ME in her attempt to put me on hold.
DESPITE having my order pulled up at that point - meaning that lovely, lovely "Ari" had my NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER - on her screen in front of her - literally, right there in front of her face -- she made the CHOICE to give BAD service and to not give her customer the basic courtesy of calling back, or resolving the question "is this complete" by email.
The apathy at this company is palpably thick.
Make no mistake - It was Ari's CHOICE to give bad service. That means culturally, there's no penalty at all for being incompetent. That makes sense from a company that can't actually staff in an appropriate manner (and not make customers wait nearly an hour) and that quite obviously cares not a whit about anything but getting fat government contracts -
I called back and spent yet another 37 minutes on hold before getting the truly helpful Georgina.
Georgina escalated the matter to a supervisor who confirmed the form on Vitalcheck's
WEBSITE is WRONG and that a different form is required.
I requested Georgine email the "missing" form she claimed I needed to fill out, and she kept repeating "it's on the website" and refused to send it via email.
How the actual hell am I supposed to fill out a form that employees WON'T SEND after we determine the WRONG FORM is on the website.
TOTALLY INCOMPETENT!!!!

Stay away - order vital records by phone NOT VitalChek
I couldn’t give a lower review of this company. You have no option but to use them to order a vital record online. So, they have no interest in customer service. My advice: call directly to the state office of vital records. Order directly from them by phone - save your money, I paid 65.00 to get a vital record which, 10 months later, has never arrived - and they are asking for another 30.00! It’s fraudulent and quite the scam. Trust me - stay away.

Worst company I have ever experienced
I needed a marriage certification, so I needed to send in forms authorizing them to send that record. Despite me calling and emailing them every day, they did not acknowledge that they received my forms for over a month! When I paid for expedited processing! When I finally got a person, she hung up on me. When I got one again, she sighed when I asked her to look through her fax machine (doing her job?), then found one of my many faxes. She then told me I needed to pay another $20 for shipping even though I already did. I read the receipt aloud to her and she flat out told me I was wrong, charged me extra for a service I already paid for, then hung up. Hopefully it comes in the mail...?
This company is so bad I'm nervous about sending this review to them before I get my paperwork, for fear that they could hold it hostage out of spite. Legitimately one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever witnessed. They only get away with this because they have a monopoly.

Predatory, but "legal"
My VitalChek experience was extremely poor. I needed a copy of my California birth certificate for my new job, and California Department of Health links to VitalChek.
As is often the case when getting official documents for critical life events (new job, school, traveling abroad, citizenship, etc.), I was very anxious to get my document as my new job depended on it.
Therefore I clicked on the obfuscated legalese and 'accepted' without consulting a lawyer or fully understanding the legal standing VitalChek and its executives in Tennessee now have. VitalChek can 'legally' charge your credit card a non-trivial 'transaction fee' and NEVER give you anything, ever, in return.
Once you 'accept' these terms, you see how little they actually provide: very little, or nothing at all in some cases. If they can't expedite your process beyond what the original provider (city, state, or university) offers--they simply provide you a 'to do' list.
The 'to do' list is the same as you'd find at the original provider's website: a list of required identifying documents to be mailed, faxed, or brought in person to the provider's location. This is of course the very headache you were probably trying to avoid in the first place by utilizing VitalChek. But now, you've lost your non-refundable transaction fee, and additional time dealing with the VitalChek dead end.
I contacted their customer service and requested my Transaction fee back, they refused--pointing me to the fact that I did, in fact, check the 'I Accept' box for their legal terms.
I wonder how many thousands of people have done this exact thing: pay the transaction fee of ~$15 and got nothing in return?
Seems an eager lawyer might do some inquiry and consider a class action lawsuit. If nothing else, pressure needs to be put on these government organizations to stop linking to VitalChek as that implies some sort of vetting and legitimacy.

I placed an order 4/30/2020
I placed an order 4/30/2020. It has been 6 months and I have not received it. When I check on order status, I get generic responses via email, telling me the order is being processed. I have called numerous numbers for months and I cannot get a person on the phone. I don not know who else to contact to see what is going on with my order. My bank account was already charged and 6 months later, I do not have my order

Working to Expose VitalCHECK on Social Media
My attorney and a few groups on Twitter will expose VitalCHECK this week. There should be a Class Action Lawsuit filed as soon as possible against this company and what they are doing to the American people..I encourage all of you, who were scammed by VitalCHECK to join me in reporting this company to the Mayor/Governor of New York City, if you are from here.
Social Media is VERY powerful, and as a Registered Nurse, I should NOT have to be scammed when I did NOTHING wrong to this company.
Why does New York State direct you to this scam company to do business with??? Facebook Messenger? Is this a joke?? Does anyone know of another company that can get me my birth certificate? I believe this is being done deliberately to further frustrate people during these COVID times. Its like they are saying "YOU HAVE NO POWER", not even if you were born here, and pay bloody taxes.
I need my birth certificate to get my license in my new home state and VitalCHECK "Manage My Order" tab stated that they shipped my order 4 weeks ago. NO order came in the mail and they charged me. Why is the NYS Department of Health using a scam sight to give people their birth certificate? Haven't we as citizens gone through enough?? This is so sad and I am not sure how I can get a refund. I used this sight because I was directed to by 311. Stay Tuned.
I help people stay alive, and I will help MORE people NOT get scammed.

Rip off company.
They make it sound so easy t to do. Then once you have paid they want a ton of things to prove who you are. You cant cancel. They have a “processing fee” i cant find out how much it is. They say there are 300 different companies they use so they cant tell you. I would never use them again. Poor business.
