Our first River cruise after enjoying ocean cruises ,we thought we try a river cruise. What a disappointment! Felt very confined to such small areas, one bar lounge and one dining room as the weather wasn't conducive to the outdoor areas most of the times. The excursions were poor and mostly uninteresting. Mostly though the food and so called entertainment weren't great, food choices and quality were well below par for such an expensive cruise. Viking in our experience were certainly poor value and never to be repeated. Also tested positive for Covid on return home !

Viking Venus : cruise round Med and on to Israel. This was a wonderful itinerary , a beautiful ship , excellent food and service. In fact, everything we have come to expect from Viking except…there were apparently a few cases of a GI infection . As a consequence all water amenities, main pool, infinity pool, jacuzzi and spa were closed for the whole of the cruise! As compensation we have been offered a derisory £200 voucher towards a future cruise. An insult! We will not be booking with Viking again.

This viking cruise is not for younger generations there is to many older generation people,im v3ry young man that cruise is bored me i won't enjoy any cruise travels, I prefer where more younger people with who I can share lots of experience stuff ,but older people for me is not interesting .

Be very, very careful with invoices from Viking. We've booked a Nile cruise with them and when the final bill came they were trying to overcharge us by a very substantial 4 figure sum. They'd lost part of our original deposit, failed to give us an agreed reduction and hidden everything in one lump sum which they called a 'discount'. When I finally got them to break all the figures down the size of the overcharging became apparent. Did they apologise? No, they just sent us a revised bill. So if you're travelling with Viking, make sure you check and double check any invoices as their accounting leaves much to be desired. We could have paid for a very nice second holiday with the amount they nearly overcharged us by.

The food was awful , the service bad some waiters were very rude we were forced to do a lot of included tours or couldn’t leave the ship . It was our first river cruise it was 23 days Bucharest to Amsterdam with Viking . We would never do a river cruise again

Just return on our river cruise . This was our second cruise, I would have to say our first one was wonderful, this one was not bad. The food was excellent. My husband surprised me with the explorer suite,the room was beautiful,the balcony was amazing. The only problem was it WAS VERY NOISY, couldn’t get a full night sleep due the engine and the bed shaking. We will go back to the other suites. The staff was great!

Baffled by bad reviews. Took river cruise with my mother (who is 81) and it was perfect. The food was excellent, staff attentive, rooms clean. The included tours all had a gentle option, so mom could do the walking tours as the gentle versions stopped a benches to rest whilst learning the history. The program director Bennie was superb. She balanced engaging with customers, providing guidance on options and whilst extra Viking tours were available I didn’t think she was pushy with sales. It’s a gentle pace and aimed at the older crowd. There is a range of bookable activities that are graded by activity level, and if my mother was slightly younger we would have done more of those. Food was excellent, my mother who is usually a fussy eater enjoyed and ate everything. The menus changed daily and had a range of local dishes and safe favourites. We opted for the drinks package for upgraded wines and if you like wine is worth doing and they have a good wine list. The wait staff were pleasant and I felt well looked after particularly by Marion. My mother particularly liked not having to search out a restaurant at the end of a day as you normally have to when travelling and because the menus changed daily to reflect location, it did not get samey. The rooms are small but storage is well designed so that was fine. They were cleaned twice a day and Emily who cared for our room kept it clean would ensure that we had enough drinking water. I’m an early riser and noticed that the surfaces which get touched (like handrails) were cleaned regularly. Overall when I compare cost to staying in hotels in Europe, it’s very good value for money. Everything runs smoothly, the service is excellent and it’s clearly a well oiled logistics machine. Because everything is so well managed if there is any stress, the problem is you. It’s not my normal type of holiday but travelling with my mother who is older it was perfect. I’m not sure what would happen if there was a covid outbreak and that is the risk with cruises generally. But would highly recommend for relaxed holiday for the near to or post retirement age group.

Booking experience terrible - had to walk away before they would agree to arrange our direct flight. Boat not of the quality promised. Rude, uninformed and argumentative staff. Food acceptable but not of the quality expected. Tours were as promised and worth doing but on the day we were looking forward to a meal away from the boat in a chateau we discovered they had transported the staff from the boat to the chateau to feed us! More average food. The first and only time we will use Viking.
