Attempting to book flights with a Viking Cruise, Passau to Budapest, June/July 2024 - when calling and speaking with three different Viking reps., get three completely different answers to the same questions. Viking needs all their employees to have better training on the exact details of booking flights. I hesitate to book a flight through Viking

We have just got off the phone with Viking Air - the latest of several. Viking Air gave us one hour between when they sent us our itinerary and told us they booked the flights. We had no chance to respond. The return flights call for us to be flying to Dallas for 27 hours with a 3-hour layover in Doha. We initially asked them to let us lay over in Doha so we could get some rest. They proposed an 8-hour layover instead of 3. Since you have to collect bags and then return through security there was no sense in taking the option. On this latest call they gave the option of paying $350 each to get a longer layover even though we would never have accepted this itinerary in the first place. No matter how good the cruise is, what I'll remember are the horrendous flights home.

Have recently returned from a Viking cruise down the Douro. The cruise was fine but the final 36 hours were disastrous. Viking booked our return flight for 2030hrs from Porto to UK. We had to vacate our cabin at 0900 and the only washing/toilet facility was a single small unit on board. We we given a snack lunch at 1200noon but thereafter the only refreshments available were from a coffee machine. We were able to use the public lounge until being “evicted” due to a staff meeting. We were transported to the airport at 1700 and “dumped” there - the promised Viking representative was not in evidence. Due to no fault of Viking our flight was cancelled but we had to find our own accommodation overnight and our own transport to/from the airport. The next day we returned to the airport and, again, there was no Viking representative. We eventually flew home via Lisbon. British Airways have refunded all additional expenses but Viking have only offered a small discount off a future cruise provided we book it within 12 months. The Viking stated company ethos of “far exceeding expectations” is sadly just words and not actuality.

As evacuees from Gaza head south toward the Egyptian border a humanitarian crises is unfolding. Egypt is the only crossing available to them. Dispite this horrendous situation, Viking is continuing the Pharoahs and Pyramids trip beginning Oct. 23, 2023. This is unconscionable. The lack of sensitivity, and the unmitigated greed on display by this organization is an affront to Egypt, the evacuees, and Viking clients.

My wife and I took the river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest in 2022. It wound up being a bus tour as much as a boat tour. The rivers in Europe are about dried up. Viking waited until we were in Amsterdam for 2 days before telling us we would be using a bus for 2 days before boarding the boat. Buses were used at various places to get us around the dry river areas. Always check the river conditions in Europe before booking any river cruise. Viking "WON'T" tell you.

I did the Viking Rhine River Cruise in August. The best ever. Fantastic service, wonderful staff, top notch food and great accommodation. It was 5 Star and a great price.

Booked a cruise with Viking (which was listed as requiring $25 down to book). Shortly thereafter, Viking wanted full payment for a cruise 1 year in the future. Therefore, Viking is holding full payment and collecting interest on the funds. This appears to be a new money making mechanism by Viking using their client's money to increase their cash flow.

Reserved cruise in July 2023. Final payment end of September 2023. Used e-check to get 3.3% discount and then Viking, after final payment, went in and took $2281 more without warning. Travel agent called them, same day they requested transfer, and advised them of their error. Several days later, money gone causing overdraft situation. Called Viking and they couldn't care less about getting me back the money they stole from me. Travel agent receiving same run around. All they say is the refund request is submitted and then had the audacity to tell me the refund could take 21 business days. This was a once in a lifetime cruise and they are ruining it. I understand mistakes are made but they couldn't care less about resolving it properly or holding themselves accountable. I have filed complaints with the Los Angeles BBB and the FTC. Stay away from Viking.
