We recently went through Value Added Moving and Storage for our move from Michigan to FLorida.
It was important for us to have a scheduled delivery date. This date needed to be locked in stone. At every step of the way I was promised and assured that delivery date would be met. When they passed the contract to the ccarrier, the carrier, Unlimited Moving and Storage confirmed that Value added moving lied to us. There was no way to make the delivery date. This was the last of our problems.
The first problem was the quoted us for 300 cubic feet in spite of telling them how much stuff I had. They followed up with a quality guy whom we gave a detailed list to. He again quoted a new, much larger price. When the movers arrived, guess what. We now have another larger price to pay. WIth no way to cancel. We ended up using 1000 cubic feet! If they were a roofer and were off that far, they would be taken to court.
I caution @everyone to avoid using them at all cost. Get everything in writing. Don't settle for "estimates", make them your last resort.

Not a good experience
Value added movers was not my first choice. I went with them because I felt the other movers were not being forthcoming. I found the company on google and called and spoke with Derek Johnson.I informed Mr. Johnson that I needed to move my stuff from New York to Cincinnati, Ohio. He stated it could be done. I informed him that I did not have any furniture just clothes and miscellaneous items.
He asked how many boxes I had I informed him I had 4 boxes and was also using canvas bags. He did not once doing our initial conversation inform me I was not able to use canvas bags. The canvas bags even appeared on the BOL. So on 7/21 the movers came the first thing the foreman told me was I had to have everything in boxes, I told him I informed Derek Johnson I was using canvas bags and it was also on the BOL. Foreman told me they could transport my items, mind you I had already paid a deposit of $798 already. Foreman told me they had moving boxes $40 a piece and I would needed 3 of them . Tried to call Derek Johnson he did not answer his phone. I called customer service and spoke with dispatcher letting them know I wasn’t aware of the boxes being needed. I also explained the BOL stated I had canvas bags. I had to pay an additional $120 for the 3 boxes due to the fact I needed my stuff moved. I spoke with Justin Watson and told him that Derek Johnson never said anything about needing boxes, Justin spoke to upper management and I was able to get $60 credit towards my final balance.
2 weeks later before I received my items. Derek Johnson also told me that I would have my stuff that same weekend which didn’t not happen. 8/2 my items came to my storage unit . The foreman which was a different one tried to charge me extra because he said my storage bin was far which it wasn’t. I told the foreman I will not be paying anything extra. He stated well I will unload your stuff and leave it in front of the storage unit entry door and I told him that’s fine. Then upon paying my balance he tried to make me pay the full balance and I told him I have a $60 credit , the foreman didn’t believe me until the driver came in and said yes regarding the credit. They went to get my stuff out the truck and the driver made the foreman take my stuff to my storage unit. The driver said it was a busy day and they had 7 deliveries before me and I told the driver I paid my money just like everyone else.
This was an horrible experience and would not recommend this company Everyone says something different within the company,

Worst experience of my life
From the very beginning, I was told nothing but lies. The first person I spoke with assured me they were different from other companies, that they have one person (consultant) with you through the whole process, and many other things that proved to be untrue.
In short I made it very clear I needed my things delivered by a specific date. My “consultant” confirmed no issue, they carefully pack everything up and more and will be on time. And he suggested the pick up date based on my need to have them delivered by a specific date. On the contract I asked specifically about the transit dates and that they didn’t align with his assurances. He explained that is required by the DOJ but doesn’t ever take that long and that my things would be delivered by the date I specified, that it was a small move, not a ton of miles, and all would arrive as expected. I brought this up two more times, with the same assurances. Yes it was a red flag and I should’ve trusted my gut, but I thought I was unnecessarily stressing about unrelated legalese. I accept responsibility for that naivety, but they should not have promised something the knew was unreasonable.. lesson learned.
Flash forward to moving day, the moving company (not the company I was working with whom I thought was moving my things) showed up and tried to get me to pay like double my original estimate. I had to leave items behind (one of a very few furniture items) just to keep my price the same. They tried getting me to pay for a tv box, explaining that somehow my standard sized boxes, and exact item list, was somehow grossly underestimated by a huge difference. I was forced to leave behind my bed and a cat tree just to keep my price at what I expected. To reiterate, I didn’t add a single item above what I supplied from the beginning, not even a tissue box, so no, nothing at all had changed at any point during the process related to list of items to be moved.
And yes, what I was skeptical about turned out to be my worst nightmare. My “consultant” became unavailable the second they got my deposit. I tried to speak to him but was told no, and that I’d need to talk only to customer service..who went off the terms in the contract that my consultant assured me weren’t relevant to my move. So in trying to relay this to someone else, of course I was quoted terms I agreed to in writing even though I had assurances otherwise from someone who disappeared and knew he wouldn’t have to speak to me again.
So, after weeks of phone calls and hours trying to get answers. My things finally turned up almost a month later! Picked up on 6/11, delivered 7/12..my expectation was delivery in 6/14 which was expressly communicated from day 1.
Not only that, but there was irreparable damage to my desk, TV, TV stand and desk chair. Needles to say The WORST experience & situation I have EVER dealt with! If I had known then what I know now, someone could’ve offered to pay ME $2,000 and I would have said no. Save yourself from this aggravating. Don’t use any broker at all under any circumstances!

You don't know who will really be moving you
First of all, understand that Value Added Moving is only a broker. They are not the moving company. You do not know who you will actually be dealing with until they show up. And then the people who drove away with all your possessions are not even who delivers them.
Let's just call this the ever increasing rate...Value Added Moving originally quoted us based on 40 boxes. What family of 4 living in a 3,600 square foot house would only have 40 boxes of possessions. Right before the move we added 50 additional boxes to the quote. Paid more deposit and thought all was good. Then the contracted mover shows up on moving day. Walks through and gives yet a higher rate. Is packing the truck and about 3/4's of the way through he comes to me and says that this is going to fill up his whole truck (a box truck) and his warehouse is going to be mad. Could I help him out...I took this to mean give him a bribe. I said no. So at the end he revised the price up yet another several thousand dollars with all of my stuff on the truck. Never mind the truck was not up to standards. Per the FMCSA they should have a company name & DOT number on both doors. There was nothing on either side.
One of the reasons I was given for it being more was because my furniture was large. My furniture is all standard dressers/beds, etc. Unless they were saying discount store cardboard furniture is normal size.
Additionally, the crew that loaded my stuff was careless. Upon their departure I found one of the item stickers in the front hall, hardware for assembling one piece of furniture, and a dresser knob in the house. They also left bits of tape, empty tape rolls everywhere in the house. They in no way even attempted to pick up after themselves.
My items were delivered by yet another party. Those movers were great. No one had really explained to them that there was 1,000 pound item that needed moving into the house. They made it happen. These guys are the only reason I am giving two stars instead of one. If they had handled my move from start to finish this may have been a 5 star rating.
Many of my items arrived without the movers stickers on them & I think we managed to reconcile the whole list. The boxes were all beat up - no care was made in stacking heavier items on bottom.
Finally we had an antique kids rocking chair that was picked up by the movers but they did not tag it so it did not arrive at my destination. As I was only given a moment to review 188 lines I did not catch that they missed accounting for it when they loaded the truck. It was not super valuable - just sentimental.
Don't be lured in by the original low rate quoted. Go with a reputable national moving company & know that in the end they will probably be a better price than the cheap one you start at.
Additionally, when you leave a bad review they have some company named Birdeye call you at 11:20pm to discuss your review.

Warning: This is a 3rd-Party Broker – Read the Fine Print!
I’m leaving this review to help others avoid the experience I had. Value Added Moving is a brokerage company, not an actual moving company — something they do not make clear up front. Be aware that your deposit is non-refundable if you cancel after 72 hours, even if no service has been provided. They will keep the full amount, and you won’t get it back.
Also, the initial quote they give you is not final. Once the third-party movers arrive, the price will likely increase significantly based on their own estimates. This is a classic bait-and-switch tactic. I strongly urge anyone considering this company to read the contract carefully and research thoroughly before paying a deposit.

Proceed with caution! What you pay for is not what you get?
This was our first time hiring professional movers for a long-distance move, and choosing Two Movers / Value Added Moving turned out to be one of our biggest regrets. We paid over $5,000 expecting a premium level of service. Instead, we received broken promises, poor communication, and no accountability.
We were specifically told our motorcycle would be crated and secured during transport. The movers who arrived had no idea we even had a motorcycle. With no time or alternative plan, we were forced to send it uncrated.
We were also told we’d get a call from dispatch before pickup. We did receive that call with an estimated time of arrival between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. . Instead, we got a call at 6:30 a.m. the day of, saying the movers would be there in an hour. No warning, no flexibility.
The final straw? Our delivery date—confirmed as June 27 with our rep—was changed to June 30 without any notice.
I contacted the company and requested a partial refund due to the lack of crating and the missed delivery timeline. They refused and said moving forward with the job meant we “accepted” everything—even though we had no choice in the moment.
If you’re thinking about hiring this company, I strongly suggest getting everything in writing and being prepared to manage more than you’re paying to avoid. I feel deceived, disappointed, and like I paid thousands of dollars for a service that did not honor its own agreements.
I'm even more apprehensive as I read through these reviews. I now have significant concerns and I'm going to be expected to pay even more money than I already have to get my items off the truck. Wish I had known Trustpilot was a website to look at prior to signing contracts.
Save your money and your sanity—look elsewhere.

Hello Nicole,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. I’m genuinely sorry you feel this experience has fallen short of expectations during your first long-distance move.
That said, I’d like to clarify the facts:
Our crew arrived as scheduled, communicated with you beforehand, and safely loaded all household goods, including your motorcycle—now in transit and en route to your destination.
You opted not to add specialty crating, yet the team still accommodated the bike.
We maintained consistent communication, including early-morning notice for pickup, and you acknowledged the movers were “great” and aligned with your budget.
As per your signed contract, a move from KS to WA (over 1,700 miles) has a standard transit time of 7–14 business days, and reliable delivery date guarantees aren't possible due to logistics, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, traffic, weather, and other uncontrollable factors.
Since the shipment is proceeding precisely as contracted—with fully rendered service and transparent coordination—this is not considered a service failure. However, we take your feedback seriously and will continue providing delivery ETA updates until your move is complete.
Thank you for your patience. We remain committed to ensuring a smooth delivery.
Best regards,
Management

MOVE ON!!! Harrassing and unprofessional
Though responsive and seemingly polite while quoting services, once I took the time to politely inform them ...via text and email, that my partner had engaged another service (even thanking them for their time), my number was submitted to an auto dialer. This auto dialer called me 27 times before 10:42 am. This was during a time when my partner was injured and we were in CA for a graduation. This company made us feel awful...after we observed all the professional niceties. Apart from the questions of the legality if harrassing a customer who asked via text email and phone not to be contacted, the fact that this company doesn't monitor for this kind of abuse is a red flag.
I've been asked for more details about this incident. I'd really wish these calls would go away. I got a text from a value. Added contact a personal text message, apologizing for all of the messages stating that it was a system error of some kind but the messages did happen. I didn't see any other complaints about system. Errors. I would like not to be contacted about this incident anymore,I am so glad you're sorry about it. I will not use your company again. As there is nothing you can do. I think I've explained myself sufficiently. Please don't bother me again. Thanks a ton for your kind words after the fact

Just an absolute scam
Just an absolute scam, was quoted over the phone gave them a list of everything I had and size of all the boxes, when they showed up they doubled the quote, I was stuck with them because of time constraints, when they arrived at the drop off location they needed more money, absolute joke this company is. DO NOT USE THEM.
