I am posting this warning to all UnitedHealthcare (UHC) policyholders regarding the use of their prescribed hearing aid benefits. My experience reveals what appears to be a systemic practice of price inflation that negates the value of the benefit. The Facts of My Purchase: In November 2025, I purchased the Jabra Enhance Select 700 OTC hearing aids directly from Jabra for the standard out-of-pocket price of $1,695.00. Later, upon discovering I had UHC coverage, I went to their portal to use my benefit, planning to return my original purchase and rebuy the aids at a discount. The Deception: Jabra Enhance Select 700 w/Premium Care with a "UHC Price" of $2,258.00. After applying my UHC plan co-pay, the out-of-pocket cost to me would be $1,658.00. The calculation clearly shows the deceptive inflation: Actual Retail Price Paid: $1,695.00 UHC Reported "Full Price": $2,258.00 Price Inflation: $563.00 (An artificial increase of over 33% on the base price.) By inflating the retail price by over $500.00, UHC is making the "discount" from my coverage nearly worthless. My supposed benefit only saves me $37.00 compared to the non-insurance open market price ($1,695.00 - $1,658.00 = $37.00). My Conclusion & Action: This practice is highly deceptive. UHC is artificially inflating the price of the product under their negotiated benefit program to absorb the majority of the "discount" that the policyholder should be receiving. I strongly urge all UHC policyholders to always compare the price on the UHC portal to the standard retail price for any hearing aid before making a purchase. The price quoted by UHC may be significantly inflated. I will file a formal complaint with UHC demanding an explanation and a price correction, and I will be reporting this potentially fraudulent pricing structure to my State Insurance Commissioner and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Consumer Beware.

Lousy insurance companyThey turned down half of my claims. And then when they turn down a claim these idiots have the nerve to send me a letter telling me how much I owe the hospital because they didn't pay it. aint none of their damn business How much I owe the hospital. That's between me and the hospital.

Once I received the Application it was completed and sent back. The Agent name was Janet Johnson, who was very helpful. However, I sent the package back via UPS. When I returned home I reviewed the documents, but to my shock, the return label that I was told would be included, had showed the person the info to sent to was ME! I rush back to UPS to retrieve the envelope. It was already gone. I tried calling UHC to explain the issue on Mon 12/1 and today. After explaining the situation to them, I was transferred to several different departments, 12 TIMES! I was hung up on 3 times. One call was obviously to someone working from home, because there was a baby screaming in the background. UHC needs to hire professionals, not people who think because they are working from home or in an atmosphere that they can treat customers with so much disrespect. The package came back today, but I will not use UHC if trying to resolve a problem they don't know the answer or will pass you off to someone can't help you anyway and then tried to transfer me back to the same department that who transferred me to in the first place. The last and final disrespect happened today and I went through almost two full days of getting no help or answers. I moved on to another company that took care of me in just 90 minutes. Your Customer Service Department need a complete turnover. Out of all the people I spoke to two were staying on the phone, but after they signed the c/s Representives didn't help at all.

I had the standard Medicare which was wonderful! I could goto any doctor or hospital anywhere and everything was covered including every lab test I ever got. Then one year after seeing all the ads constantly running for seniors to switch to Medicare Advantage I finally decided I must be missing something. Wrong! As far as I'm United Health Care / AARP is nothing more than a scam a big portion of what the government allocated for your health care. You'll probably have a hard time finding a primary care physician and if you do the service will probably be terrible and if he has tests run you'll probably find the UHC didn't pay it and you'll get the bill later. There's no way I could have thought any company could be this bad. I. Just stay away from United Healthcare. My recommendation to you would be to keep the original avoid all of the Medicare advantage policies. I don't know that all are as bad as United Healthcare since I haven't tried each one individually, but I think the principal applies across the board.
