I had a very frustrating experience with UnitedHealthcare regarding a medical claim that has still not been processed after approximately 18 months.
My healthcare provider submitted the claim, and I was later contacted by the insurance company to provide additional documentation, including medical records and lab reports. I submitted everything as requested.
However, despite multiple follow-ups, there is still no record of this claim in my patient portal, and my provider has not received any reimbursement.
Each time I contact them, I am either given vague responses or redirected to another email address, without any clear explanation or resolution. No claim number has ever been provided.
This level of delay and lack of accountability is extremely concerning. A claim that has been acknowledged and supplemented with documentation should not disappear from the system for over a year.
I have now filed a formal complaint with the Kansas Insurance Department.
I strongly advise others to keep detailed records and closely monitor their claims when dealing with this company.

I’ve been a UHC Medicare advantage member for 16 years (since 2010) and just dropped it for a state plan. If you have ANY other choice for health care coverage, I strongly recommend that you take it. The company was formerly excellent, but has lost its way in terms of customer support. I’m exasperated with their decline into subpar performance and incompetent customer service and switched for more supportive coverage.
Never get a new phone number if you do decide to go with UHC. I’ve been unable to sign into my account reliably for the last 4 months due to getting a new phone. The sign in screen on the app and the website still reference my old number and won’t update it, giving me an Error: 30004. No one at UHC can understand why, or manually correct it for me to sign in. My multiple weekly calls to UHC for the last 12 weeks haven’t resolved the problem. During all of this, they keep sending links about my benefits information to my email, for a website that I keep telling them I can’t sign in to!
Asking for tech support is an adventure in misdirection, fraught with every excuse in the book for refusing to give out the information. They say that it’s not available to the consumer, that they’ll escalate it and call them for you and call you back, then they never do. Their requirement for the consumer is the webchat, which only had options that don’t address my specific issue. The problem with my phone number has gone unresolved for months and they always say that it’s fixed on their end, they only see the new number there. I was told numerous times that the issue was being escalated and sent to tech support but in my final call I was informed that tech support was never actually advised or involved.
Customer service was outsourced to India for approximately the last year, which is fine if the company gives the call centers there the US support that they need, but UHC apparently doesn’t. I’ve been repeatedly misinformed about benefits and providers, dismissed and legitimately gaslighted by a number of pleasant but minimally trained people who didn’t have the resources to properly help me.
Zero stars if I could, but one star is as low as this site goes. I honestly don’t feel that they deserve that much credit. For a company that I once considered excellent and supportive, it’s a disappointing and frustrating decline in service and professionalism.

I have to laugh
I have to laugh, The ads from United healthcare for their new campaign “Every Step of the Way” The problem arises in that 40% of United healthcare‘s steps are side steps!
Definition;
To side step is to deliberately avoid, evade, or dodge a difficult question, responsibility, issue, or person. It implies shifting away from a direct confrontation or answer, similar to physically stepping aside to avoid a blow, often used in political or professional contexts to navigate around uncomfortable topics. I just had to clarify what is meant by every step of the way.

It seems to look like insurance fraud
It seems to look like insurance fraud. I don't know for sure yet but I will soon. If they don't come up with any insurance today I'm getting a lawyer and suing. It's like they are selling fake policies and telling everyone the policy is active on their website, but nowhere else in the world. That would be fraud and If so, I will be taking them to court. This is too stressful.

Be Prepared for the Unexpected when dealing with UHC
had plan N with UHC for at least 10 years. decided cost/service was too high so effective 1/1/26 I switched to a medicare advantage plan. after 2 mos I decided to switch back so I could see my previous doctors that were not in the current network. I was paying $212 per month under the previous plan N. Now they quote me $289 2 months later for the same plan. No explanation only that's the way it is. Profit is golden $$$ to them.

I am unable to write reviews for health…
I am unable to write reviews for health care providers on UHC's site. Seems like that masks the service I am getting.
I’ve been a Waters Edge Dermatology patient for quite some time, but unfortunately, the consistent scheduling issues across multiple locations have become too much to overlook.
Appointments are routinely overbooked, and long wait times seem to be the norm rather than the exception. Most recently, I scheduled a 10:00 AM appointment specifically to avoid delays. When I arrived, I was told the provider was on time—only to end up waiting over 30 minutes before being told they were actually running behind.
I completely understand that occasional delays happen in any medical office, but this has been a repeated experience, particularly at the Port St. Lucie (Tradition) and St. Lucie West offices (with St. Lucie West being the worst).
What’s most frustrating is the lack of respect for patients’ time. Like many others, I have a job and clients who depend on me, and I don’t have the flexibility to sit and wait indefinitely for appointments that were scheduled in advance.
I also had a similar experience with the cosmetic office, where I waited over 90 minutes before ultimately leaving. Since then, I’ve taken my business to Dr Vinyard who values punctuality and customer experience.
I’m sharing this in hopes that management takes a closer look at scheduling practices and patient experience—because it clearly needs improvement.
