I had a great experience overall. The combination of structured curriculum and flexible self-directed learning was perfect for me as a busy full-time employee who also travels several times per year. The faculty and staff were responsive and helpful.

Trident is a good organization - definitely user friendly and a convenient way to get a Ph.D. Having said that it wasn't easy. Took me almost 7 years between classes and the dissertation (however, I only took one class a semester). You have to earn this thing - it's not a "give me" by any measure. It could be frustrating. The dissertation needed to be solid theoretical work and I felt like quitting many times, but the staff helped me through when I really got discouraged. I'd recommend it to anyone particularly if you're trying to hold down a full day job, but it is work and will wear you down. No one is going to do this Ph.D. for you - you'll have to fight for it all the time. Be prepared to write, and write, and when you think you can't write anymore prepare to write some more!

I am happy to say that I finished my PhD at Walden U. I had to leave Touro (Trident) when they refused to follow their own handbook and the Chair of the department wouldn't sign my dissertation proposal; even though my committee signed off. Not only did I leave, but so did my committee faculty. Hope things have gotten better since then. Dr. Tim Lockwood, PE

If you are a working professional, Trident is a great place to earn a doctorate. The didactic portion can easily be completed while working full time, if you have the drive to put in the time on your off hours. The professors are high quality and my dissertation chair, Dr. Frank Gomez, was outstanding.

This review is based on my sole experience and may not represent the experience of other students. Two of my dissertation chairs were non-responsive causing me additional sessions at additional cost to my education. The third dissertation chair saw me through the program.

I have written several emails to Trident and left messages to talk to someone about my situation and they will not respond.

Be prepared for a academically challenging journey, but its well worth it. The professors desire the students to excel.

The program itself is rather expensive however, there are some basic things I believe a program of this nature should offer to its graduates commensurate with other top schools. First, I find it disheartening that you can only receive a standard 8.5 X 11 degree. When looking at other large institutions, they offer a large scale degree with proportions similar to an 18 X 24. Given the level of degree (PhD) this seems feasible for Trident to offer, especially considering the cost of the program. The offering seems elementary and without prestige. In the same vein, the Class Ring offerings are terrible and less than desirable. The jeweler used in my opinion is below average on service and offerings. I have contacted them multiple times asking why they do not offer a large or Jumbo size signature ring (again like other top tier universities). To that, they have only answered that they are the exclusive dealer for Trident. That is ridiculous given the number of students attending the school and he cost of the degree programs. I recommend entering into an agreement with Jostens or Balfour to develop more legitimate ring options for men and women as well as over-sized diplomas. This is not much to ask for given that classes for Doctoral Students cost $2,400.00 - $3,600.00 with a program easily costing $4,000.00 - $80,000.00. I want to be proud to say I attended Trident but unfortunately, I am not.
