About Traveler's Joy

We're a small group of folks that started Traveler's Joy on a stoop in Brooklyn, NY in 2004. However, it all really started in 2003 with the serendipitous meeting of our founders at the first overnight hut of the Milford Track in New Zealand. Taking the company from a muddy hike on the South Island to the world's most popular honeymoon registry in a few short years required a lot of work. Luckily we have the best team in the world! Traveler's Joy continues to grow into a new decade and we're all very excited at what the future will bring. This site was convenient however
This site was convenient however, I did not know that they took a certain percentage of the money. Not cool with me.

Dear Megan: Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry you did not have the best experience with Traveler's Joy. We mention the service fee throughout the Traveler's Joy site and within the first bullet point of our Terms of Use that couples agree to when signing up for Traveler's Joy. I'll speak to our team about how we can make it more apparent. In order for Traveler's Joy to pay its people, provide 24/7 customer service, and keep the lights running, we have to pass along the fees assessed to us by credit card companies. I understand your frustration and wish there was more I could do but the convenience of using a credit card has a % fee associated with it that we can't afford to cover and still operate. In addition, couples make the choice to whom fees are assessed and how the fee is divided, if at all. In 2015 we created a 100% free registry option whereby gift givers can choose to give a gift with cash or check and still mark items off the couple's registry. I'm sorry you were not aware of this option. I will talk to our UX team to determine how we can make this option easier to navigate for the couple and gift giver. I hope this explanation helps. I really liked travelers joy until …
I really liked travelers joy until the end. Apparently one person is the head account holder and this cannot be changed. my husband was the only one allowed to collect all the gifts which is crap. we are in an equal marriage we should both have equal access to our money. it was very upsetting to be newly married and already feel like my husband has more rights and privilege than I. Even for this review and all the emails you send me they are address to will. so insulting

Will, Thanks for your feedback and we understand your frustration. The reason we do not let you change the name of the Traveler #1 person on the account is for fraud reasons. While our servers are secured by the latest technology, someone could still gain access to your account if they discover your login information or if you use our site on a public computer and do not log out. Since gift redemption checks and money transfers will only be distributed to the Traveler #1 name, there is another layer of protection in one of these rare events. Even if a malicious user has access to your account, they still cannot get a check or money transfer sent to them in their own name. I'm sorry you find this insulting but we take the security of gifts very seriously. We do our best during the sign-up process to make this very clear to our couples. The last thing you need approaching …
The last thing you need approaching your weddin is stress, but traveler's joy made our honeymoon stress-free. Everything was very simple and have lots of great layouts that make it visually appealing!

Best Registry Out There!
Traveler's Joy enabled us to raise a nice hefty honeymoon fund that we otherwise would not have been able to afford ourselves right after the wedding. We most likely would have had to postpone our honeymoon until the following year! Traveler's Joy was easy for our guests to use, easy to create and post on our wedding website. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site to my other friends as their wedding registry!

Traveler's Joy made funding our …
Traveler's Joy made funding our homeymoon so easy. We had so much fun creating our customized list of activities for Las Vegas. The abilty to share on social media for our family and friends to access was a lifesaver. Being able to transfer the funds, once available, to our accounts was such a simple process and we were even able to do so while on the honeymoon. Highly recommend this service!!
