I will never buy a Tin Leg policy again. This is the third time I have had a claim under $500 that went unpaid. Twice they made it so difficult as to what they wanted that it was impossible, and I gave it up. This last time I was more persistent, and yet I was denied a legitimate claim. My daughter was on a cruise for her 21st birthday. Prior to departing she had had allergies and a cough. She went to see an urgent care the day before her travels, and they prescribed her a steroid pack. Two days later on the cruise she had an asthma attack. She has never had an asthma attack in her life. She was seen by the ship's doctor twice. Tin Leg refused to pay for the medical bills, I also invested countless hours gathering the required information that they wanted only to have this denied. It was ridiculous. I would avoid them like the plague. In response to their response, an asthma attack is a different diagnosis than allergies with a cough hence why I believe it should have been covered. Alternately, if we had decided to not have her go, there would have been no guarantee you would have paid. If we had run the risk of submitting a claim and you paid the claim, the claim would have been around $3000 for my daughter and her friend. This was two visits on the ship less than $500. Regarding the two previous claims, the first was denied because I didn't have the ship's doctor's NPI number, only to discover later that ships' doctors don't have an NPI number because they are foreign doctors. When my son's flight was delayed causing him to miss his connection and need to spend the night in Texas, they didn't cover his hotel because we didn't have enough proof that the flight was delayed and were told we should have taken pictures/screenshots of delay information. The airline unfortunately, was not able to help us with providing the proof they required. In hindsight, I should have tried Flightaware, and maybe that would have been sufficient. So much wasted time, energy and money on insurance that is near impossible to collect on when you actually need them. I buy travel insurance two to three times a year, and I am now rethinking whether I should even buy it. I ended up getting Medjet membership which isn't true travel insurance but would help if we were hospitalized to get us back home. I hope others who read this review will at least get some help in knowing what to expect if they have to make a claim and perhaps alternatives. I truly don't know if it is better with any other company. About 17 years ago, we had a claim but I can't remember the name of the company. My husband tore his retina requiring surgery about a month before a trip to the Galapagos Islands. The doctor wrote a letter saying that although he could physically travel, his eyesight would be impaired and he would not be able to enjoy the trip and could be hazardous if he went on hiking excursions, so the insurance company paid the entire bill. That was one situation where travel insurance paid off.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We regret that your experience with our claims process has been frustrating and disappointing, especially during what should have been a joyful occasion for your daughter. We carefully reviewed your claim and understand the circumstances that led to your request for coverage. However, as per the terms of our policy, coverage cannot be provided for medical issues or symptoms that began and were treated prior to the start of the trip. Additionally, the policy does not cover claims related to loss of enjoyment or unused arrangements that were not prepaid. We understand that these stipulations can feel restrictive, especially when facing unexpected medical situations, and we apologize if this was not made clear from the outset. Your feedback is valuable. We apologize for the inconvenience and stress this situation has caused. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this matter in more detail, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

Very straightforward process with helpful instructions and relatively clear descriptions of coverages. The price seems reasonable for the coverage and the peace of mind when traveling is worth it.

Its very easy to shop and personalize for insurance. Also, doing upgrades on the plan and the final purchase couldn't be easier to do. I love that you offer so many options to choose from as I always find one that fits perfect for me!
