While the claims professionals were polite, our experience with Tin Leg was disappointing. After purchasing their very expensive insurance and landing at our destination, one of our flights was cancelled abruptly and without explanation. We purchased at great expense tickets on a different airline and flew out as planned. When we returned home contacted Tin Leg, and provided mounds of paperwork, but after numerous messages and calls our claim for the replacement flight was denied. The reason for the denial: since we were able to get to our destination and proceed with our plans, according to Tin Leg, our travel was not disrupted, and we were not entitled to any reimbursement. Terrible waste of thousands of dollars for worthless insurance, as well as ridiculous amount of time making claim and documenting per reps’ request, and overall, a bad experience. Would never use this company again.

Our travel plans changed, and we immediately requested to either amend the policy or cancel it for a refund. The company took over two weeks to respond—an inexcusable delay that signals not just poor service, but a complete disregard for the customer. The absence of real-time support and the rigid, unhelpful response point to a business model built on inflexibility and indifference. After reading other similar complaints—which I now regret not seeing sooner—it’s clear this isn’t a one-off but a pattern. This company operates with a disturbing lack of accountability and should be avoided.

I purchased the more expensive option for insurance and was unpleasantly surprised to find out the policy doesn't cover local travel (Uber etc) or meals. Which are literally the first two expenses incurred when your travel is interrupted.

We have used Tin Leg travel insurance for many years with no previous claims. The travel insurance supposedly covered INTERRUPTIONS and DELAYS. Our flight from DC to Lisbon was delayed nearly 24 hours. The airline rebooked our flight. We only asked only for reimbursement for the first night of our AirBnB in Lisbon, which we had paid for. I called and spoke to a courteous representative who started the claims process. It stretched on 4 weeks with us having to obtain and forward many documents (including a letter from the airline) before the claim was denied. It turns out that there is a list of exceptions at the end of the policy. The list included an operational delay by the airline which does not end your trip, only delays it.

Do not recommend. Used several times and the two times I tried to claim, they found ways to weasel out of it.

Filed a claim days after my return, took almost 4 months to get a final answer and get paid and I am an attorney! The back and forth was duplicative and just stalling.
