Do Not Buy TinLeg Travel Insurance. Paid $600 for a "premium travel insurance". I got stranded by multiple road closures in rural Italy in May 2024... everything from unannounced sporting events bocking major roads to rockslides blocking detour roads that cut off my only routes from the Dolomites/Italian Alps to the Verona airport and my flight home to the US. I missed my flight home due to closed roads, and incurred additional unexpected $3000 out of pocket in expenses in extended car rental fees, additional hotel nights, and having to rebook a missed non-refundable flight. It was impossible to speak with a live person at TinLeg on the day of the disaster... I was on hold and got transferred around for almost an hour and then told live reps were only available for medical emergencies and hung up on. For the next six months, TinLeg demanded impossible information like a detailed map and time stamps from the Italian Cycling Cup that caused the road closure, "proof" of road closures beyond the time-stamped in-person photos I already provided, and copies of private bank statements that had nothing to do with this specific travel insurance claim. I reported the experience to my State's Department of Insurance Regulation and was told I provided all information required by law in my State. There was no basis for the additional, unrelated documents TinLeg was demanding except for harassment and excuses to illegally deny a legitimate claim. ***7 months since submitting my legitimate claim and getting denied at every step*** TinLeg is A SCAM COMPANY.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience and the challenges you faced while navigating unexpected road closures in Italy. We understand how difficult it must have been to manage these added expenses on your own in a rural area. To assess claims like yours, we require certain documentation to confirm the circumstances and expenses, which ensures we can fully evaluate your situation based on the policy's coverage. In your case, we asked for additional documentation to substantiate the road closures, the expenses incurred for extended accommodations, and information regarding your original travel bookings. We understand that gathering such details can be time-consuming, and we apologize if any of our requests came across as burdensome. Due to insurance regulations, certain documentation is required. We understand that this may seem strict, but these guidelines are in place to maintain fairness and consistency for all our customers. If there’s any way we can assist in resubmitting your claim or if you’d like further help with gathering specific documents, our team would be happy to support you.

Dishonest!!! Don't trust buying a policy. My flight was cancelled on the day of me taking the flight. "Frontier airlines refuse to give me the exact reason, which is needed to move forward with a claim." I show proof of frontier airlines refuses to give an exact reason. Tin leg got in contact with Frontier airlines and they said it's operational reason cause cancellation. Therefore Tinleg refused to reimburse me. No where in the language in the contract they can deny you for that. Also if my flight get outright cancelled on the part of a airline. I should be refunded the money. What is the point of insuring with your unscrupulous company. If the flight wasn't on the low scale I will lawyer up. I will make sure I forward your shady tactics to my State's Attorney General office.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I understand how disappointing it must be to face unexpected expenses after a canceled flight. I'd like to clarify some details regarding your policy coverage to hopefully provide some insight into the outcome of your claim. Our policies cover specific reasons for trip interruptions and delays, which are outlined in the terms you received. Unfortunately, cancellations due to "operational reasons" by the airline, such as logistical issues or staffing, are not covered under the Trip Interruption or Trip Delay benefits. This policy design aims to focus on certain unforeseen events beyond the airline's control, such as severe weather or mechanical issues. While I understand your expectations for coverage, the exclusions in the policy apply to cancellations by airlines for reasons not covered elsewhere in the plan. If there’s any part of the policy you’d like further assistance understanding, please feel free to reach out to our customer support team. We’re here to help clarify any remaining questions. Thank you again for reaching out, and we’re here if you need further assistance.

We will never use Tin Leg again. No idea how they have good reviews. They refused to pay a very small claim so imagine what they'd do with a big claim. My husband got Covid in Ireland and Tin Leg refused to reimburse him for the test kit and over-the-counter medicine we bought, a small total amount. The clinic our hotel called had said to buy a test kit and do the test. He did, it was positive and so we went to a walk-in clinic the hotel suggested. The front desk perso ushered him out without examining him saying go back to hotel and isolate and take paracetamol OTC med. for symptoms. Tin Leg would not reimburse his costs saying he needed a doctor's note. Upon return to US, he saw a dr. for persistent symptoms and we sent that medical summary. Tin Leg still refused to pay a penny. We wont' be using them again. UPDATE 10/18/24 - Despite Tin Leg's response on 10/18/24, I stand by my review. Sorry, but i made it very clear that the clinic in Ireland would not see my husband as they ushered us to the door and told us to isolate at hotel and take OTC med (Paracetamol) for his Covid symptoms so we have no clinic doctor note or record except from the dr he saw when we returned to the US. Tin Leg still rejected the claim for the covid tex and Paracetamol.

We apologize for the frustration you have experienced. I have consulted with our claims team to gather further details about your case. It appears that your claim was denied because a physician did not confirm your diagnosis during your trip, which is a requirement under the policy. The policy document you received at the time of purchase defines “Covered Sickness" means an illness or disease that is diagnosed or treated by a Physician on or after the Effective Date of insurance and while You are covered under the Policy in accordance with the terms and provisions of this Policy. The Emergency Medical benefit is designed to reimburse medical expenses when emergency treatment is required due to an accidental injury or Sickness. Medical documentation from a licensed Physician certifying the sickness or injury is a requirement of the policy. I understand this has been a lengthy and frustrating process for you, and apologize that your claim did not have a more favorable outcome.

Do not recommend. Used several times and the two times I tried to claim, they found ways to weasel out of it.
