Rented from WTC mall Abu Dhabi for 4 days, the staff itself was amazing. But deposit is 3000 aed if you have debit card. It took 3 weeks to process deposit return and charge for salik. Even then not full breakdown was provided. Found out that they charged deposit refund banking charges too, which was not told before.

This is the worst rental company in the world. A rip off at its best. Make sure save your bank account because they will charge you fees that you’ve never heard about and they have the worst customer service in the world. No one responds to emails. And they just rip you off.

Worst Car Rental Company in UAE. I have been renting in Ruwais for over 5 years. Transferring to Abu Dhabi has been the worst decision. The service department try to find ways not to help. They took 8 months to repair accident damage and only then because they were servicing the vehicle. They had lost all paper work relating to the accident. Finally repairing the work it was discovered the police report was inaccurate. Too late to change the police very politely and kindly told me you have 3 days. Thrifty service were of no help blamed me for having an accident nothing was their fault. Organising the service was another problem. They ignored my phone calls and emails. When I did speak to them they were rude and obviously had little English - constantly called me Sir even when being told I am not a sir. They ignored their own dates to swap the vehicle with no contact or apologises. They have made the whole process a living nightmare. I complained and was told sorry we are dealing with it to make it better. No offer of compensation that because of their mistake I will be out of pocket - I now need to pay for another accident report to cover the work missed on the first report. Even after my complaint the service department still did not respond to messages or call as promised. When they did call I was actually told the whole affair was my fault! If I could give zero I would. I advise anyone who are looking for car hire not to waste their money. The cars are old and not looked after. One year I had a stream of old cars one after the other. Constant problems with batteries. Being told you’ve just had a new battery. Yes in the other old car you gave me. Do not think the lowest price is the best. I rented from Europcar in AlAin for three years and they were outstanding. A little more cost but there is no comparison. Do not rent from Thrifty. Save you money and keep your sanity. Rent from anyone but thrifty.

I rented a car from thrifty car rental in Dubi Airport couple of months ago and paid all required fees.while I understand that a deposit is usually held and not taken from the account, this company deducted the deposit amount,. When they refunded it, they took an additional £80 without any explanation. This was frustrating and felt unfair. I hope the company improves their communication and practices in the future.

Worst car rental they charge extra

I could not speak more negatively of the service received by Thrifty and how totally unacceptable the response was by management. This company is without doubt, the WORST car rental company in Dubai and I could not recommend looking elsewhere. Being new to Dubai, we needed a car and rented from Thrifty expecting a minimum service level. We hired a Hyundai Creta and paid 2,500 AED per month, which in hindsight, is a rip off when you shop around. Upon hiring the vehicle, Thrifty took our email address and details as you would any normal service. After a few days, I had not received the service agreement so contacted them via WhatsApp. They did not respond. I contacted them repeatedly over following days and eventually I received my agreement (10 days of rental). At this point my wife received a call today we had received parking fines. I explained that nobody had let us know from the outside and questioned why we had not been informed before this to make corrections. We found out that the service agent took the wrong details down and incorrectly took our email address so we did not recieve any messages about fines meaning we had run up a fine in excess of 2,500AED. This was quite clearly a Thrifty error and a very costly one. We then raised this with the management team and waited in excess of 4 weeks for a response. While this was happening, we emailed to request that no further charges are taken on our cards until it had been resolved. This was completely ignored and a large sum was taken to cover the fines incurred even though Thrifty were clearly at fault. Eventually, the management team came back with a totally obnoxious response explaining it was our fault and thrifty would not take any responsibility even though we have evidence via voice notes received stating the completely opposite and accepting fault. At this point, we paid our final statement balance and just wanted to leave. As a follow up, thrifty emailed and offer 100AED voucher to rejoin which is nothing short of disgusting and a totally distasteful offer in light of how shambolic the service was. My advice, DO NOT go with thrifty, there are so many, much better providers who value you as a customer. I now have a much higher spec vehicle which costs 300AED a month less.

Really disappointing. We ended up taking a car for 6 weeks as EID took longer than anticipated. Zeroed the excess which they eagerly accepted. All was ok until return. Two small scratches caused by someone else probably scraping us in a carpark. Despite being zeroed they continue to rely on smellprint around getting a contemporaneous police report to substantiate the damage. Completely unworkable as we hadn’t even noticed at the time yet they prefer to go after a couple of hundred dirhams after me spending thousands on long term hire at short term rates including 6 weeks of zero. No flex and a reliance on small print I have never experienced in 20 years of renting. Even the guy checking us in said not to worry about it as it was so immaterial. Then they hide behind anonymous emails thereafter. AVOID.
