LampsterReviews of thelampster.com

I ordered 4 Lampsters, all different, early on in the Kickstarter campaign based on the design choices, the cool technology of the Lamphead, the structure of the base being a body in different costumes you got to pick and just the overall sizes of them. Upon receiving my Lampsters and setting them up along with the Bluetooth connectivity, I quickly saw the Lampster lamps were truly amazing pieces of Artwork and Technology. Now there’s even a “Demo” mode on them that let’s you run all the programs in a row to show everyone how damn cool 😎 this light is! Just turn it on and it syncs with your iTunes and starts pulsing and flashing to the beat, you have your own house party anytime you want. I have had a great experience with Lampster as a whole and I love their Lamps, I can't wait to see what's next!

Ordered my 1st Lampster in December 28, 2016 on indiegogo and got it delivered last year. Did some testing with it and really liked it. I gave it to my 10 year old niece for her birthday , she is using it not only as an office desk lamp but also to have funky lights when she plays music. I'm waiting for my second Lampster so I can give it a test run with the new app version, but will use it mainly as a fancy office desk lamp. I did order a version without paint as I have an artist friend who will be doing a custom painting job for me. I will update the review with the new app test results after I received my second one. (and pictures of the custom paint job when done.)

Cool. Good light. App Android works. Great customer service!

The Lampster has up until now been quite an ordeal. It has taken until now to finally get my hands on this great idea for a lamp. I backed this project back in 2015 and finally all four have arrived. The project ran into problems early with high numbers ordered and not enough original lamp heads, custom electronics although I don't think there were any issues with that, then issues with body mold. Then finally getting it delivered. I believe the management/handling/logistics was the biggest let down. The product, although possibly rushed is of good quality for something handmade. Eventually they were on the production line. Thats when the waiting got tough. I don't want to go over all the details, just want to put it all behind me now but have to say that the worst part was the lack of communication. I can accept and understand technical issues but there really is no excuse with a venture like this to not have reasonable communication. It doesn't really cost much than time but i can't stress enough it would have gone a long way. In any case my lamps are here and arrived promptly after I had to leave a truthful yet scathing review here. This is now amended to this. Radu, you need to stay in contact with your backers still. The lamps arrived in excellent condition. Unfortunately wrapped in clear film, so when one of my children answered the door the surprise I was waiting for for three years was up in smoke, oh well. They arrived in relative quick succession from each other promptly form Romania and even got the customised one I ordered for the eldest child who has moved out already during the production phase, despite me compromising on that and requesting a stock unit. A nice surprise to see the custom one instead. I did have to compromise on European plugs for Australian but that's no big deal as Im an Electrician. It was good to finally hand them onto the the kids who were still pleasantly surprised with them. As far as the lamps go, overall they are of good quality, a little more attention to detail for between the legs and on the feet where the joins are could have made the lamp 100%. The lamp operation itself works fine with the touch button. Sometimes the app does odd things but can live with that. The LED's when lit are clearly visible through the lens and the diffuser but I kind of like that effect. The neck seems OK. I wouldn't put too much stress on it but then its a lamp not a toy. We have already had a few comments about them. When I tell the story about the wait, they don't know what to say. But overall very happy I received them and something unique to look at. They do have character, i think anyway. Especially with that sideways look either up into the sky or down to the floor. Wonder what he is thinking.... I look forward to keeping an eye on The Lampster, to see what the next, if anything, iteration may be.......... Good luck to those still waiting. Stay Strong.

Review edited on 4/3/19. Original 1 star rating. Backed this project in Dec 2015, delivered on 4/3/2019. I would say the design is nice and the lamp has a lot of cool features, able to adjust the colour and intensity using an app.The rubber sole keeps falling off though and the neck is still very loose. I also fear the weight of the lamp would topple the lamp if knocked over. Top heavy. Should have fitted the legs with some weight for more stability. I won't pay this much for this lamp if i saw it in the mall. Design is 7/10. There wasn't any instruction on how to assemble the head of the lamp. The instruction is online via the QR code. Took me some time to figure it out. I also realise that the washer is required after I tried to assemble without watching the video. Initially though why the head was so loose and keep drooping down. The X-harness has a problem. The clip was stuck after I clip it. So I cannot unclip it and cannot drape it over the lampster. The cable management pouch doesn't made sense and not intuitive. Threw the harness away. Low quality mater that will likely grow mould in a few years under the tropical climate. Box opening experience: 4/10. Sales communication and the wait is definitely 0/10. 3 years wait and empty promises. Useless FB message replies. Slow production is never an excuse to deliver something 3 years late after collecting millions in funds. 6 months late is still normal on kickstarter. But 3 years late is unforgivable and the branding will remain infamous in years to come. Overall rating 4/10 at best, rounded up to 2 stars out of 5. Not recommended to buy.

Update: Finally received my lampster today! Was it worth the wait? Yes, it looks great Rating upgrade from 1 star to 4.

I'm backer 944 on Kickstarter. Backed this fun little thing back in 2015, figured it would be a nice gift for myself for my 30th birthday.. Now over 3 years later, I'm still waiting on my order. I've been in contact with the company a few times over the years, trying to figure out when I would receive my lamp, but never received an exact shipment date. Always very vague: somewhere in the next few months, soon, blablabla.... Last update I had was somewhere last year, where they promised me delivery around september or oktober of 2018.. it's february 2019 now, and I still didn't receive anything. Honestly, I don't think I will ever receive my order.

Backed Lampster during their kickstarter campaign. This June will be three years from the expected delivery date and have still received nothing. Didn't expect to be scammed, but I guess that is just the way of things some times. If you are considering purchasing from Lampster.com, I would avoid it like the plague. Even if they did ship you something, you would be receiving it on the backs of the 6,000 of us who haven't received anything...
