LampsterReviews of thelampster.com

The lampster is unique in design and quality in construction. The lamp enclosure is made of metal with a glass lens, the power cord is braided and the paint is evenly applied. Accessories are included which allow personalization of the lampster. The associated app is easy to set up and convenient with options to adjust brightness, color and hue among many other settings. Exceptional attention to detail in the instruction booklet, accessories and lampster itself. Shipping was fast. I highly recommend this unique, well engineered lamp.

After 5 years of delaying and lies they refuse to send the lamp. They even want more money to have is transfered and after that they lose communication. They should be in jail.

Lampster arrived well packed and functioned well. I was a Kickstarter funder and paid the express shipping to get it. I was willing to do that just to get it since it has been a 5+ year wait. Lamp does function and is bright. Nice color mixing and shades of white are smooth. RGB functionality is well integrated. App works well, though it is a bit sensitive. Wish it came with a few presets in app color wise (2700K, 3500K, 5000K, Royal Blue, Purple, Crimson Red, Orange, Yellow, etc.) Brass button on top is fidgety but works and functions as described. Really stylish manual and documentation. A few lost in translation sentences. Headlight is well made, but definitely not up-cycled from old stock. Plastic body is well made, but still plastic. Head lamp paint is smooth, plastic has a few rough edges / spots. Quality is good, not great.

I was an original Kickstarter backer and I still have not received my lamp. After they took my money and put me on a list to receive, did they change and try to extort more money from me by telling me that if I wanted the lamp I would have to pay for shipping. For more than 4 Yrs I have been waiting, takes usually 3-5 attempts at contact before ever getting a response. A bait and switch scam straight from the textbooks. So forget the good faith in funding before they had a product, forget taking them at their word. Unless you pay the additional money they will not honor their promises. Extortion.

I was an original Kickstarter backer and I just got my lamp. I liked the concept and when I ordered the lamp 5 years ago, I was excited about it. The process I had to go through to get the lamp was painful and it is sad that the people that got the company off the ground were treated so poorly. The two stars are for the fact that it arrived and it works. However, I lost interest in this product two plus years ago and I don't even know if I will use it now?

I am one of the people who already received their lampster. I received it i think around two years ago. I was one of the first bakers on kickstarter and I liked this idea from the beginning. I will not say something about the massive and frustrating delays and the really bad communication of the team. Other people did this more than enought. Now why only 2 stars? The second star is because i received it. But for the quality of the lamp i actually want to give one of five. Starting by the body, wich are two moulded shells, they fit very bad together. There are gaps all around and the filling material trickles out of them. There are scratches and dents and it is very obviously that the moulds are in a very bad quality. Normally you prime it with filler and sand it but this didn't happend. Also the quality of the paintwork is very low. There is no clear coat on it (on my one) and it feels very cheap. There are like fingerprints and imprints in it. I ordered a black one with two letters on the head. The letters were painted with a stencil and after that they tried to repair it with a brush and a white color wich is much more yellow then the one of the letters. Looks very cheap. But the more frustrating part is that the paint falls off when you run your hand over it. They said the letters will be secured by a clear coat. When i get in contact with them and send them pictures they only had excuses. The next disappointment is the app. It feels like an app from the beginning of the smartphone times. The user guidance and experience is catastrophic. I am a designer by my myself and we are creating models and product demonstrations by our self. I know how hard it is to keep the quality. But as a good product designer and builder it must be your drive and conviction to deliver quality. And for all the other who want to buy a lampster i can give you the advice, in reality they don't look like they do on the website.

I was a kick starter backer. Owned my Lampster for almost a year now, although it was a different style in the end as they do them in batches at the time but I am still pleased with the final product fit and finish. The process was long, having to contact them via Facebook messenger asking what they have in stock style wise and paid for individual shipping. My only gripe with the function of this product. The Bluetooth connection keeps dropping and no longer connects to the app. To fix this, you need to be reset by switching it off and on at the mains and this happens too frequently. Another issue is it defaults to white light and not warm light. And one. Major gripe is using the brass touch control when reducing the light to the lowest setting, once it reaches the lowest brightness, it indicates this by means of two maximum bright white light flashes. MY EYES!!!! So the electronics need total overhaul or upgrade.

They refuse to ship funded campaign lamps without paying additional shipping fees... five years after the campaign closed. It's clear they used funding to get started and are now ignoring the original backers.
