The food smells just like pot roast. My dog, however, does not like the consistency. It’s too pasty. A little too wet. I got a sample pack and have not tried the other two so they may be different but I know if the consistency is not different he will not eat it. That being said, my dog is very picky and that’s why I keep trying to find just the right food he’ll eat.

Thank you for letting us know how the first recipe went! Picky dogs definitely keep us on our toes, and texture is often just as important to them as taste. Our food does have a smoother, more uniform consistency because we cook it without the gums or binders found in traditional wet foods. The good news your pups reaction is actually pretty common and there are a few things we can try to help encourage them again. Feeding Tips to Try -Start small & mix in: Try mixing a small amount of the food with something your pup already enjoys (like their previous food) and gradually increase the amount over a few days -Warm it up: Slightly warming the food can enhance the aroma and make it more enticing in a microwave safe bowl for 10 seconds (NOT in the packaging) -Add a topper: A splash of warm water, low-sodium bone broth, or even a little plain boiled chicken can help spark interest -Stick to a schedule: Offer the food for about 15–20 minutes, then pick it up if your pup doesn’t eat. This can help reinforce mealtime routines -Hand feeding (short-term): Sometimes offering a few bites by hand can help reintroduce the food in a positive way Let us know if you’d like to give these a try, and I’m here to support you every step of the way! Got the sample pack to see if my dog would even eat it. She will not eat Ollie’s. She loves Farmer’s Dog but been reading about pancreatitis with that. 3 boxes of sample pack for over $30 (that’s with a discount) and it takes 1.75 boxes to feed my dog for a day. That would be $525/month and I’m estimating down. Not stored in the freezer but would need to dedicate an entire pantry for storage. 🤦🏻♀️
