Techless unnecessary changes & being unreliable
I’ve used Wisephones since 2022, starting with the Wisephone 1—a minimalist smartphone similar to the Lightphone. I later upgraded to the Wisephone 2, which offered family-friendly, curated apps. It used a system called the Tool Drawer, a controlled version of the Google Play Store managed by Techless through an organization account where admins decided which apps users could install. Everything worked fine until one morning when the Tool Drawer disappeared. Several of my apps and work data were gone, forcing me to use the Wise Portal—a slower, web-based app installer. It’s frustrating because: 1) You must log in repeatedly to install apps. 2)Apps often fail to install despite appearing successful. 3)There’s no real-time progress or confirmation of installations. 4)The portal is sluggish and not suited for everyday use. These changes make the experience inconvenient and impractical. Wisephones are also locked down to prevent users from factory-resetting or installing stock Samsung ROMs, limiting customization so they can't easily be sold to regular smartphone users. Techless could fix this by restoring the original Tool Drawer or a similar system and ensuring apps and data aren’t removed without user consent.
