My therapist sent an automated and/or a super generic message to me when we first matched. I decided to just dive into it and sent her a long message and never received anything back. Disheartening. After a week passed, I decided to cancel and get my $450 refund back but Talkspace is a black hole. Customer service never writes back and their “refund wizard” tells you that you’re not entitled to a refund. Since I never got any service, it seems likely the “wizard” is just a link so the site could tell me I don’t get a refund. Total scam.

Customer service is non-existent. They charged my credit card, but the email validation link never reached my inbox (tried many times, checked all the spam etc. folders). The end result is they charged me for services they haven't provided. I reached out to customer service by email, phone, and social media multiple times and no one responded. Such a shame because there are people who really need support and this company is functioning so poorly.

Absolutely awful! In fact, I can honestly say my mental health is far worse since trying it. If you are someone that has struggled with mental health issues, having hope that Talk Space is the answer is crushing once you have a video call with their so called therapist. I have ADHD and Bipolar with anxiety. Within mins of our video called with so called “psychiatrist” she informed me that they can’t write prescriptions for “stimulants”. That would have been nice but to know up front, because I would have never signed up! The “psychiatrist” was so short with me and would not let me speak and when I did speak she yelled at me for explaining to much. Not exactly how I envisioned a call like this going. I was only able to last 12mins on the call before it became unbearable and I told her I was done. Of course I still got charged $100 for an hour appointment even though this woman was totally inept and awful. I couldn’t imagine sharing anything personal with this person! USA’s healthcare system, especially mental health is the absolute worst and nonexistent!

My therapist talked with a bird on her shoulder. The first time I met her. That should’ve been my first clue. The sessions are only 30 minutes and any therapy session I’ve had has been 45 to 50 minutes. You were told that you’ll be able to have access to your counselor every day Monday through Friday which is a lie. Mine ghosted me twice for over four days each. I signed up for a three month subscription which was $780 and my insurance didn’t cover it obviously. I got nowhere near what I was promised. Don’t waste your money or time

No…just no. I subscribed to weekly “live-only” sessions, and did the 10-minute intro session — which Talkspace says is a free tryout — with my assigned therapist. I found him to be remarkably unprofessional, so I requested to change to someone new. Then I got a message from the new therapist asking for all of my personal contact information — info that should go on a confidential intake form — and I found no way to enter that myself on the website. Talkspace should have generated that form and sent it to me! The therapist should not be filling that out. Red flags everywhere. Really worrisome. So I canceled my subscription and requested a refund, via their automated system. Talkspace has some dodgy, slippery policies for refunding if you are not satisfied. In the FAQs, I discovered that it is entirely up to them whether a refund request “qualifies” for reimbursement. No defined parameters given: “We review refund requests on a case-by-case basis. Except as prohibited under applicable law, Talkspace may at its sole discretion provide a full, partial or pro-rated refund for services rendered.” That is not what they promise when you subscribe! I got part of my money back, but not all. I was offered no explanation for why they kept back $85, when I had not used any of my sessions. To repeat, the 10-minute intro session I used was supposed to be free! I have requested an explanation for the partial refund. I will be challenging that charge on my credit card if Talkspace does not refund me in full. This is fraud. If you consider the fact that this is a service for people suffering problems with their mental health, is goes beyond fraud. It is abusive. Follow up: I did eventually get a response from Talkspace customer support. The agent said that because Talkspace has to pay a retainer to their therapists every month, they cannot refund in full. Huh? I replied that this had nothing to do with my complaint — that I had not used any service other than the “free” intro session, and that the attempted transfer to another therapist was botched. The agent replied that I had now been granted a full refund. But I still see red flags everywhere, for Talkspace. Consumer Reports published an article on online therapy services — including Talkspace — stating that such services do not fall under HIPAA consumer protections. These services can and do sell your personal health information!!!! Stay away.

I signed up for the free trial they are promoting to give it a try before committing, we'll, you need to pay then first then you get a free trial. Then a few days later I started getting tons or phone calls and emails from physical counseling centers. One such on was in Katy Texas. I LIVE IN ILLINOIS! Not only did they have my email and phone number, but they knew what I had answered on my questionnaire. The emails were extremely targeted to my answers. I feel very violated. Some help they are! Absolutely disgusting company.

Please DO NOT USE TALKSPACE! This company is committing fraud! I have read numerous nightmare stories online about many who have been taken advantage of by TALKSPACE. I wish my daughter would have read the warning messages before releasing my credit card information to these thieves. This is especially horrible as young kids/teens are trying to get help and see the "free" trial or promotion advertised of "$100 off" --only to find out their credit card was charged before any so-called "therapy" was even provided -- no "free" session at all! My young daughter reached out to ask for help and within 1 week of setting up an account, I was notified of a $300 charge on my credit card!! She trusted this company to provide therapy first and keep the card information on file but they charged the card knowing there was no adult/parent consent, not even a "matched" therapist assigned at that time, no answers to her questions about the schedule, billing arrangements, and other needs she had as well...terrible!! Most of all, NO THERAPY EVERY RECEIVED!! My poor daughter was even more stressed from this nightmare experience! Once we finally found customer "support" email, an automated email message was received with link that only resulted in trying to upsell or cancel the account with partial or no refund ---and the "free" trial and free live video session was never received whatsoever too!! Stay away from TALKSPACE or talkspace.com as they are know for their false advertising, overcharging, and very bad business practices!! PLEASE do the research to find a reputable, professional mental health service with healthcare professionals credentials confirmed.

This online care was completely misleading! I told the prescriber about my problem only to find out that they could not help whatsoever! Then after that, being the second time trying to communicate with this prescriber and the first time being charged for it even though I never got them on the phone with my tablet, iPhone 12 Pro, and brand new HP envy with one gigabyte per Second Internet speed they still charged me for THEIR inefficiency, then when I finally do meet with the prescriber for FIVE MINUTES, they expect me to pay $265 for it! Completely unbelievable! Then I dispute the charge for $240 of the $265 to be fair giving $25 to compensate five minutes of a prescribers time, that wasn’t good enough they wanted to dispute my credit card company which is still on going and I’m sure I will Inevitably win in the end, but I would never have fought it if this entire thing wasn’t misleading completely! If you are looking for anything further than talk therapy you are looking in the wrong place! And if you are looking for somewhere that would be honorable, honest, or fair when it comes to the financial aspect you are absolutely positively looking in the wrong place. I am going to copy and paste this review to every review website I can possibly find! Because people seeking genuine psychiatric care should never be treated this way or subjected to this kind of inefficiency and incompetency! It’s really pathetic!
