I am extremely disappointed with…
I am extremely disappointed with Talkspace's handling of a billing issue involving one of my employer-provided therapy sessions.
Shortly after opening my account, a therapist who was assigned to me deducted one of my available sessions despite never conducting any session whatsoever. No appointment took place, no therapy services were provided, yet one of my employer-sponsored sessions was still consumed.
I reported the issue on April 5 and expected it to be a straightforward matter to review. Instead, my complaint remained unresolved for over a month and was eventually closed without any action being taken. I then had to reopen the complaint and start the process all over again. As of today, more than two months later, I am still waiting for a resolution.
What makes this even more frustrating is that when I later missed an appointment on April 19, Talkspace was very quick to enforce its policies and notify me of the consequences. However, when it comes to correcting a session that was deducted without any service being provided, the company has repeatedly delayed, passed the issue around, and failed to provide an answer.
I have retained documentation, correspondence, and evidence supporting my claim and am happy to provide it directly to Talkspace or any appropriate reviewer.Despite having clear records available, I have spent more than two months receiving generic responses, repeated assurances that the issue is being reviewed, and no actual resolution.
The support responses have largely consisted of apologies, statements that the matter is being reviewed, and requests for patience. Meanwhile, the original issue remains unresolved. My concern is not only the improperly deducted session but also the lack of accountability and transparency in the resolution process.
I want to be fair: my experience with the second therapist assigned to me has been positive. Unfortunately, that positive experience does not change the fact that Talkspace has failed to address a billing and benefits issue that should have been resolved months ago.
A customer should not have to repeatedly reopen the same complaint and wait months for an answer regarding benefits that were consumed without services being rendered. I am simply asking for Talkspace to review the records, acknowledge that no session occurred, restore the employer-sponsored session that was improperly deducted, and provide a clear explanation as to why my original complaint was closed without resolution.
After more than two months of waiting, I still have neither an explanation nor a solution. That level of customer support is unacceptable.
Update 7/11/26
It's been over 3 months now and I'm still waiting, you said you are reviewing my case. I dont know how it can take 3 months and a half to review my case.

Forget this woman!!! What a whackjob.
I am requesting a formal investigation into this therapist and Talkspace’s vetting process for providers on your platform.
After one 60-minute session, this therapist canceled our second appointment at the last minute. I rescheduled for the following week, and instead of providing actual therapy or continuity of care, she came onto the platform and told me I should be tested for autism, then stated that she could not continue as my therapist.
How is this acceptable clinical conduct? How can a therapist make a statement like that after only one session, without any formal evaluation, proper assessment, explanation, or meaningful therapeutic relationship? That is not responsible care. It is dismissive, reckless, and deeply inappropriate. I am not worried about being autistic because I'm clearly not. But if she encounters someone who is deeply fragile, she can do some serious damage.

We appreciate you sharing your experience and concerns regarding your therapist and our vetting process. We take your feedback seriously and are initiating a thorough review of this matter. We are committed to ensuring responsible and appropriate care for all individuals.

Insurance issue
Therapist was fine. However, I asked if she had my insurance information and she said "yes, I don't need any more information." Turns out they didn't code it correctly, so my insurance did not cover the visit.
I asked them to re-code it as EAP, employee assistance program, and they refused. EAP would be fully covered. They said that I needed to have it coded correctly at the time of visit (my responsibility).
My spouse has worked in the medical/health provider/payer industry for years and had never heard of a provider refusing to re-code. And neither had the Anthem folks when I asked. I'll find another provider.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely regret the frustration you encountered with the insurance coding and billing process. We are reviewing our procedures to prevent similar issues.

Poor Communication and Unresolved Issues
I have been extremely disappointed with my experience. I raised concerns regarding the accuracy of information in my account and have spent weeks trying to get the issue resolved.
Communication has been slow, responses have often been delayed or inconsistent, and the matter remains unresolved. For a company handling sensitive information, I expected a much more responsive and effective process.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend the service.
Response from TalkspaceJun 3, 2026
We sincerely regret the prolonged difficulties you've faced with your account's information accuracy. We are reviewing our communication and resolution processes to prevent such experiences. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to improve.

Worst customer service ever. I don’t leave reviews…after 4 months of trying to update insurance policy with them, I’m leaving one now. Great provider but a miserable company

Talkspace is a buggy platform with zero customer service. The sessions often died mid way. I had several billing issues that were never resolved and there was no way to contact an actual human being. The issues I raised were automatically closed with no response.

We appreciate you sharing your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about the technical and billing issues you encountered, and the difficulty reaching support. We are actively working to improve these areas.
