Money grab, not a mental health company
I put my insurance info into Talkspace and their system told me I was covered. So I booked the earliest session I could get with a therapist I liked, a 6am call, because I was relieved and excited to finally start care. I spent that whole hour opening up about deeply traumatic things to give a picture of what we’ll be working on. The kind of memories that bring me immense pain just to say out loud. I only shared them because I thought I was starting real, ongoing care. The second the session ended, I got an email saying my insurance wasn’t approved after all. I asked them to explain what happened and to review my insurance details again, since the site says it’s included. All I got was a copy paste “we’ve shared this with our team” reply and then nothing. It’s been 25 days now. No follow up. No fix. No response AT ALL. This is a mental health company. People come here already struggling and hand over things they can barely say out loud. Talkspace lied to me about my coverage, pulled trauma out of me, took my sessions anyway, and then ghosted me. Do not trust a single thing they tell you, including absolutely useless responses to reviews.

We are truly sorry to hear about the incredibly difficult experience you had with our service. We understand how frustrating and distressing it must have been to share such personal information under the impression of coverage, only to have that assurance rescinded afterward. We acknowledge the profound impact this situation has had on you, especially given the sensitive nature of the discussions. We are actively looking into your specific case to understand why there was a discrepancy in the insurance verification process and the subsequent lack of communication. We are committed to improving our systems and ensuring that such situations are prevented in the future. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
