Insurance Coverage Doesn't Matter, It's Still Too Expensive
Had an appointment with Dr. Hedgepeth (who told me he wouldn't be providing psychiatric services as this was a consult, but could recommend me to someone in the practice). I also had Cigna insurance, which Zocdoc (who I booked it through) said they took. Prior to my appointment, I didn't realize Talkiatry was like BetterHelp and thought it was a singular practice. I went to hopefully get my medications refilled and to start seeing someone, however, I received a $350 bill for a CONSULT that should've been covered. Not a psychiatric appointment (Dr. Hedgepeth was very clear that he wasn't providing psychiatric services), no medication refills (I would have to come back for that), just a 30 min consult where he asked what were my diagnoses. I cannot afford $350, so I resubmitted the claim to my insurance, and Cigna said I owed the $350 and they covered none of it. If I was told beforehand that this was the price of their consult, I wouldn't have even booked it. I have been dealing with this for months and this has been awful. I am already financially unstable and this it's so hard with services like BetterHelp and Talkiatry putting their providers on websites and making it hard for people to find individual practices instead of conglomerates. I wouldn't recommend booking any services with them.
