I reached out to Talkiatry for psychiatric services after they came recommended. After speaking extensively with customer care before setting an appointment, I was told to expect to be billed at $200-$300. However, this is a complete lie. The company charged me $253.19 just for attending the Zoom call, which they call an "office visit". This charge outweighed the actual psychiatrist fee by over $100 (the cost to see the psychiatrist was only $174 which is on par for these types of services). They did not note these charges upfront when directly asked, and billed me over $400 for 1 therapy session while trying to get me to commit to a 2nd session in 2 weeks' time. I do want to note the actual psychiatrist was awesome and gave great service. However, I would advise avoiding this platform at all costs, as it's clear they do not care for mental well-being and only seek to drain clients of money in their times of need.

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. I have had a great experience with the physicians I have worked with here. And that is where the positivity ends. The administration of Talkiatry is, without question, the most rude, incompetent, ineffective, and unresponsive business I have ever worked with. The clerical department is staffed with people who cannot answer basic questions and continually fail to respond to issues with billing, scheduling, and other coordination. Half of the people I have spoken to have such poor English (I am US based) that I’ve been unable to communicate with them. The company also uses low budget phone lines or something of that nature because these discussions always get chewed up by static. On multiple occasions I’ve had physicians leave the practice and it has been a disaster rescheduling appointments, including one period where it took about 4 months of follow up calls to schedule a new doctor meeting. The office ignores preference requests (ie, for a psychologist instead of a social worker) and fails to record details in notes about patience. All together this business is a nightmare run by people who clearly invest 0 in employee or patient experience. Avoid at all costs.

Talkiatry is a good idea with poor execution. I found it easy enough to make an appointment. I was about to choose a provider and time through the website, I got a call from their call center to schedule me. They offered a later date and different provider from what I saw on my screen, but just went with it. A few days later I got an email asking for my insurance information again because they were unable to verify my benefits. I emailed a front and back scan of my insurance card. A week later, at the time of my appointment, I still had no link to join a call. I called Talkiatry right away and after reading the notes on my profile, they said they needed my insurance information. I explained I had emailed it a week earlier as they had requested. They were nice, but at that point I was already frustrated. I asked them to cancel and remove my name from their system. Two weeks later I’m still getting emails to reschedule.

I had two visits with Talkiatry, both lasting at most 15 minutes. I received bills almost 6 months after my services, one for $384, and another for $270. I was under the impression that this was an affordable service, but clearly, that is not the case. The mental health services I received were also a joke - it's obvious no one at the company actually cares about helping.

I was insulted and belittled. I was called a talking head on a screen. I struggle to reach out for help. The doctor insulted me and I ended the call after 31 minutes. They billed me over $300. What a scam. Ru run fast from this place. These are the doctors that can’t make a living in the town they live in because everyone knows them.

My provider cancelled the day-of my appointment within less than an hour before it was supposed to start. Since then, Talkiatry has been charging me $100 no-show fee for that appointment, even though I wasn't the one to cancel (I was on my computer waiting and ready to sign on for the virtual appointment). I reported it to Talkiatry immediately, with text message proof of my provider cancelling the appointment, and they said they would resolve it in 4-6 weeks. No resolution. Message again. They said they would resolve it in 4-6 weeks. This cycle keeps happening, and for a mental health company, it is very distressing and emotionally taxing to having to wrongly bare charges as a patient for an appointment that I didn't even cancel. I am planning to report them to the Better Business Bureau and recommend that others do as well.

They used to send text AND email notifications. However, now they only send email. If you work during the day, you’re NOT checking personal email. My 1st follow-up appointment, after a psychiatrist I really liked left Talkiatry, was screwed up by them and they have the nerve to bill me $100.00 dollars. The second time, they sent an email reminder so I missed the appointment. The third time, little Miss. Doc decides my dosage should be reduced along with the quantity. I dropped Talkiatry out of pure frustration because when I called to complain about the missed appointment fee, I talked to someone in Bangkok or who knows where. I do know they weren’t from America. Because when I called before - any issue was resolved before I hung up. Now, they tell you it will be 6-8 weeks and that’s with them “escalating it to a manager to have a look” if 6-8 weeks is escalating, I won’t give them another dime. I don’t like giving my info to ppl in far off places, I don’t like a company that takes 6-8 weeks to fix an error that was on their end, Etc. The owners don’t care. They want top dollar for subpar service and want you to give your personal info to foreigners just so they can get cheap labor.

I am trying to be constructive, but I have never heard of behavior like this company. They assigned me to an anorexic looking psychiatrist from Texas, who would not talk about refilling my medications without a full intake. It was upsetting bc my records should have just been transferred. Talkiatry chose to release me. I had a great experience with one person who has since left Talkiatry. They kept scheduling me with others and then rescheduling me. I would not recommend this company. They need to me more sensitive to their patients and spend time connecting patients and physicians.
