Talkiatry is over billing everyone and assuming that no one will look at their bills.
Talked to someone from talkiatry as an intro, the psychiatrist listened to me and took down my history and it was an intake call. Talkiatry charged me for that session (which is very expensive by the way - 1.5x more than what I pay for Alma...please do check out Alma, they are amazing), but also charged me $96 for a follow up visit, when i never scheduled a second session. They later tried to pass this up as the doctor talked to me about medication and behavioral therapy that would help me, but the doctor never did that. They are falsefully trying to inflate the bill. This is absolutely wrong. No one should be paying extra charges because Talkiatry falsefully is adding fraudulent charges and phantom charges on the bill. Would give them less that 1 if available

Fraudulent billing
I have been treating with a psychiatrist on Talkiatry for about 4 months. Out of the blue my most recent bill was $100 more. Discovered they added an additional charge for “ individual counseling”. The appt was 15 min. There was absolutely no counseling, no discussion of family, work or life stressors, no coping skill discussion, no sleep hygiene tips. I have been a licensed therapist for the last 30 years and understand what this add on charge means and there was nothing additional provided at this session. I reached out to the company to challenge the charge and was met with resistance. Sadly, I ended my relationship with the company due to the fraudulent billing practices. Be warned, this will likely occur if you continue with this provider and the fight to fix it will be fruitless.

Wendy, there are a lot of factors that can impact the cost. The best way to find out how much your care might cost is to contact your insurer and ask about your plan’s coverage for outpatient mental health treatment. Email us at [email protected] if you have further questions.

Absolutely NOT recommended
Absolutely NOT recommended. Their customer service is farmed out overseas, cannot understand anyone. We made an appointment for our daughter, waited 5 weeks, and then got an email 2 hours before the visit that our appointment was canceled. No explanation. I called, and after some time I was told there was an "emergency" and I would have to wait a week for a different provider or even longer for the same provider. After review of my account, they THEN told me that they could not treat my daughter and that we should have never been given an appointment for a consultation in the first place. Beware... your HIPAA-protected info is being shared overseas with this setup up too. Went to ZocDoc, was able to find an appointment with a provider SAME DAY, where we were connected with actual office staff locally. Much better experience and feel safer with her information.

My recent experience with Dr Monica Badillo
My recent experience with Dr. Monica Badillo was appalling and has compelled me to write this review to share our distressing encounter and to hopefully prevent other families from enduring a similar ordeal.
After a two-month waiting period for an appointment for my daughter's medication management for her depression and anxiety, our initial consultation with Dr. Badillo turned out to be profoundly disappointing and, frankly, irresponsible.
The session, which lasted about 45 minutes, was primarily spent discussing my daughter's current and past medications, her general health, and potential allergies, which seemed thorough at first. However, the conclusion was both shocking and unacceptable.
Dr. Badillo, after the extensive questioning, informed us that she could not provide the help we were seeking. My daughter is on 2 very mild anxiety medications, nothing out of the ordinary. This abrupt decision was delivered without any explanation. Despite my persistent inquiries for a rationale behind her refusal to continue care, I was met with non-responsive and indifferent behavior. She could not tell me why she could not help us, she just looked like a deer in headlights and said its policy, Sorry. I pushed and pushed, what policy and nothing.
To add insult to injury, the billing from Talkitary included charges for 'supportive therapy' - a service we not only didn't receive but would argue was completely contradicted by the increased anxiety and stress caused by this encounter. The total billed amount of $443.43, with $180.77 purportedly for non-existent supportive therapy, is not just unjustifiable but feels fraudulent.
This experience has not only left us in a precarious position regarding my daughter's ongoing care but has also highlighted a significant lack of empathy and responsibility from a provider that is supposed to specialize in mental health. The fact that similar complaints are echoed in numerous other reviews of Talkitary only adds to our frustration and disappointment.
I strongly advise anyone considering Dr Monica Badillo or Talkitary for their mental health needs to look elsewhere. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and accountability we experienced is unacceptable, especially in a field that requires utmost sensitivity and care.

Exorbitant Fees
Incredibly unhappy with being charged $100 no-show fee because I was late to an appointment due to an emergency. The fee is exorbitant, unethical, and unnecessary. My provider was late to nearly every appointment and I never complained so it seems really shady that, when I was late one time, the appointment was immediately cancelled and I was charged. I have already signed up with a new service and their cancellation fee is the same as my copay, which is how it should be! To the company specifically, I'd like to say that all of these negative reviews about your service cannot be wrong, you have some fundamental issues that need to be addressed.

Insurance denied my encounter with Talkiatry from January to October 2023
I had received services from Talkiatry. I had a psyiatrist and a therapist. My insurance company was then with Humana and they denied my claim because I received two different services. They do not tell you what is covered and what is not. I had to borrow money to pay them off. I do not recommed Talkiatry because they do not tell you that your insurance may not cover it.

Hi, Charles. We've partnered with major insurers to make psychiatry more accessible, but a patient's final cost depends on their coverage. The best way to find out how much your care might cost is to contact your insurer and ask about your plan’s coverage for outpatient mental health treatment. Email us at [email protected] if you have further questions.

Charged for services never used
Signed up but never used their services. My insurance was billed a few hundred dollars and I still have a remaining balance.
Even if I did make an appointment and bailed, it doesn't make sense why I have the several charges that I do on the account. There's several charges as if I was using the service.
I wasn't using their services.
If I missed the appointment, I'll pay the late fee. But I'm getting charged for meeting people I never met in my life.
I called down and was told I would hear back in a day or two, but I know how this is gonna go.
Honestly, don't even respond to this like you did I others. Don't tell me to contact this number of that number. This is a scam. This is supposed to help people and now I got bills in from a service I never used.
Be proud of yourself. Probably some pr person behind a computer, but honestly don't respond. I don't need fake pity. Don't need to be told sorry. You're pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining.
So many other similar complaints... you all need taken to court.
