Awful experience. Was given so many run-arounds. Day of my appointment, after uploading insurance and filling out assessments weeks in advance, my appointment was cancelled. But then received an email telling me the appointment was taking place in an hour. But when the time came, I couldn't log in. When I called to reschedule, as no one reached out about it, I was originally told that there was no specified reason, then that the provider had time off, then that I was actually not a fit for the practice. And I had to reach out to get these incredibly varying answers. Frustrated, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Was then told there were none. Was then told that these nonexistent people were in meetings. Terribly unprofessional, unorganized and disrespectful. Particularly for a place that is supposed to cater to mental health. I'm in disbelief.

Beware!!!!!! I wish I read the trust pilot reviews…
I wish I read the trust pilot reviews before using Talkiatry. I’ve had awful experiences with this company. I reached out hoping for grief counseling after losing both of my parents within the last year. I have insurance and submitted it prior to my appointment. It was approved and everything was good to go but received a bill after the appointment for over $400.
I have tried to call to which the response was “ you will receive a call back within 3 business days from the department responsible for billing”. Three business days came and went, and no call.
I wrote to them via email, I received an automated response stating that I would receive a response within 7 business days. Same thing has happened. I have not received a follow up or resolution to my inquiry as to why I am being billed over $400 for something that should only require a copay.
This company is awful and is causing more stress than it’s worth. I regret ever looking for help and would’ve been better off on my own. Now I face threatening automated emails stating that I should pay the $400+ bill before I’m sent to collections.
BEWARE!!!!! Do not use this company!!!! It is awful. It is a scam. Do your homework. I wish I did!

Worst experience
I had a consultation appt with Dr. 7/6/23 for a medication refill for Prozac, which I've been on for many years without issue. That's all I asked for. Instead Dr. tried to convince me to go to ketamine, which he said he wasn't allowed to say per talkiatry, and which I was not interested in. I just wanted the basic SSRI that has been working for me for a long time. He did not fill my Prozac prescription and I ended up going through SSRI withdrawals. I set up a payment plan for the $370 bill (after insurance) even though I had to pay to go to urgent care to get my Prozac refilled since Dr. didn't fill it. I was then notified a year later, with no communication since, that I still owe the $370 despite proof of setting up the payment plan. Everything about this company is deceitful, and they will not be getting another dime from me.
Update: pretty sad that their only response was to try to get my review taken down for including the Dr’s very common surname.

Absolute garbage
Absolute garbage that offered me no beneficial help. They even charged me an additional $138 to issue a script that I didn't use. Total bill for a short visit with someone that subsequently quit right after the visit was $312. I disputed the $138 charge and they basically told me to take a hike. Avoid this service.

Hi, Steven. We've partnered with major insurers to make psychiatry more accessible, but a patient's final cost depends on their coverage. The best way to find out how much your care might cost is to contact your insurer and ask about your plan’s coverage for outpatient mental health treatment. Email us at [email protected] if you have further questions.

Total scam, false advertising
Total scam, do not use!!! First off, I should’ve known off the bat that they were a little wonky, just from their emails! Their “representatives” emails read like an AI’s terrible attempt at being human, riddled with errors. The initial set up process SEEMED ( key word: seemed) simple enough, and I was excited to see they supposedly accepted many types of insurance, including mine. I received an email three weeks before my first (and last) session, stating my deductible was $0, my coinsurance was $0, while my copay was $60, which is already pricey as most of my other copays are no more than $25. The session was unremarkable in every sense of the word despite how unhelpful it was. Psychiatrist seemed totally condescending and detached, as well as telling me that she didn’t agree that I had the disorder I’d come in to be treated for. She also informed me I wasn’t in her “client pool”, and the entire thing was honestly a terrible introduction to the world of psychiatrists. I let it go, thinking I’ll just pay my copay when the bill comes, have them close my case file, and move on to another company that’s actually professional. SURPRISE SURPRISE, I check my email one day to find I have a bill from them for over $300! Obviously I was shocked, and the breakdown of the price made it even worse. They charged me nearly 200 for “psychotherapy” techniques, when she literally just asked me about my highschool experience and then told me I was using the wrong terminology to describe MY experience. Of course I immediately reach out, and speak to the most incompetent representative I’ve ever heard from, who tells me all she can do is submit a ticket, something I could’ve very well done on my own! Now, it’s been a week and I’m still going back and forth with them as they claim my insurance was “denied”. That’s not what that initial email said though so I’m not too bothered lol. Save your money, time, and added stress by skipping this company. I thought psychiatry was supposed to help, not cause more trouble and stress. What a joke of a company!

Horrible Customer Service
So while I don't think they are a scam, as I actually received medication from a doctor and my Co-Pay was very low, their customer service is horrendous. First, they charge $100 for a missed visit, which for an online place is insane. 2. Trying to change providers from the one they initially assign to you is a headache. I requested a changed in provider, got confirmation from them twice that it would take 10 days (2 separate 10 day emails for a total of over 20 days) and then my provider sends me a letter that they are cancelling our relationship with the company all together! And it's been crickets from the actual company since then. Do not give these people your money, they are not worth your business until they improve their horrible customer experience.

We're sorry to hear that. We're escalating this to our support team to look into it and we'll reach out directly.

Scam
I had high hopes for this company. My first vist was very generic, was perscibed a medication I could of gotten from hims, they billed my insurance over $1,000.00!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. This place is a scam and they over charge for the services rendered. I emed up having to pay almost $400 out of my hra account for what? I was charged for two different services which makes zero sense. Avoid this place, save your money and just go to you pcp or find something local.

Thanks for reaching out to us, Matt. The final cost of your visit depends on several factors. We recommend reaching out to your insurer to ask about your plan's coverage for outpatient mental health treatment. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have further questions—we'd be happy to help.

Transparent lack of care or concern
It may have been naïve to believe the Talkiatry marketing materials. I suppose it’s only natural to believe that medical providers, especially those that specialize in psychiatric care would possess a little more awareness, compassion, and care than this business does. My recommendation to anyone considering engaging Talkiatry or any of their medical providers is that you don’t. Most of your interactions with the business itself will involve phone calls at the last minute to cancel the appointment that you have scheduled that very same day you are receiving the cancellation call. Additionally, it’s much easier to communicate with them via email. Fortunately, it appears that their email customer support team speaks English.
Back to the chief complaint, if you hypothetically were to lose your job and lose your insurance, they will discharge you as a patient almost immediately. Apparently that is their only way to address what is obviously a traumatic experience for most people. And while it’s probably reasonable to pursue some sort of closing of the chart or discharging of a patient after an extended period of time - this organization will do so in a matter of days. Don’t ever forget that healthcare providers are businesses first, they may pretend to care about you and your problems and your health but at the end of the day the bottom line is all that matters to these people. You are a number on a spreadsheet. You are a line on their P&L, Talkiatry makes that very very clear.
TLDR; they’ll cancel your appointment day of multiple times, if you cancel because you’re waiting for new insurance cards to arrive in the mail they will ‘discharge you as a patient’ immediately.
