For a company called “Talkiatry” they don’t do talk therapy at all. I was hoping to unify talk therapy and prescribing psychiatry. The therapist was fine but she only offered drugs and I’ve heard too many stories about the trial and mostly error practice of prescribing drugs when not integrated with person to person therapy. Also Talkiatry has made it exceedingly difficult to have my PCP contact the psychiatrist with whom I consulted.

Dr. Maxine is great but the system they demand clients to use is absolutely the worst I have ever experienced. I tried on my phone browser, my computer on all browsers and could not upload my damn blood pressure that was "normal" when I had to go get it done until I tried to upload the validation. I recommend getting a new portal that works. This causes my blood pressure to go up.

The online site has so many issues that Talkiatry's response since at least December of last year has been offering the excuse: ""We are changing internal systems." It hasn't changed but does need to change the system because, among other reasons, it does not permit updates of pharma info--instead triggering unasked for scripts--, does not have meaningful chat, spits out invoices where none is warranted. Session was fine. One our intake, she billed for both an assessment and therapy and charged me 700 bucks for one session. My insurance paid 300. I guess I can’t afford help for mental health. The doc seemed nice and the service was easy though. So if you are willing to spend 700 bucks per hour on mental health. This is a good option. But for common people maybe a more budget friendly option.

This is what's broken with our mental healthcare system: Predatory companies seeking to gain a massive profit from people who are suffering. Sound familiar? They charged me $550 per 30-minute session with my psychiatrist (He moved to Talkiatry from his own private practice, so I followed him). My insurance only covered $250 of each session, leaving me to pay the remaining $300. My meetings were only "maintenance meetings" (lasting only about 15-20 minutes of the given 30-minute block) to make sure I'm still doing well on my prescribed dose of medication. Since leaving Talkiatry, I signed up with a different online company to just prescribe me my medication for $30/month, instead of paying Talkiatry $300 per maintenance meeting (and THEN paying for the medication). Edit: I'm bumping this to the top because it seems like a bunch of fake 5-star reviews came in recently, and I want people to see the reality of this company.

My experience with Talkiatry has been extremely poor. I went through them to see a specific provider and was scheduled with that provider as they allowed me to do via ZocDoc. She then canceled our first session and at the time Talkiatry would not allow me to reschedule with her as she apparently did not manage my diagnoses, which is incorrect. So I went to her directly to schedule. Since then when the psychiatrist needs to reschedule they will send a link with offerings, however every time you try to schedule using the links it continually says she is not available. Then their billing department is completely inept. Every month I have had to call and tell them to bill my secondary insurance, meanwhile they send me bills saying the amounts are past due. Then they offer an option to pay for a specific date of service, however then decide to allocate the funds however they like even if the dates of service are pending insurance!!! The only reason I continue to put up with this is that the psychiatrist is phenomenal and quite honestly saved my life. Trust me, I have told her she needs to leave and start her own practice.

My first session was over $400 for an hour with a psychiatrist. My second session was $300 for 30 minutes and merely for med management. Why? My psych was great and actually cared, but Talkiatry is prohibitively expensive. Go somewhere else.

I'm giving the rating I'm giving solely due to customer service. I actually like my doctor but the customer service is horrid if you ever have to encounter them. When my doctor is in the office everything is fine but if he isn't it's a s*** show. You can't get assistance immediately. Everything takes 24-48 hours and all customer service is overseas.
