Talkiatry is the worst! I have been on the phone for over 24 minutes just trying to login. I asked to get a sooner appointment. They told me there was no way to email or talk to the doctor. I asked to speak to a manager or someone else after trying to login. Iris was his name. He told me he didn't have a manager and was the only able to assist me.

I was dropped as a patient after the…
I was dropped as a patient after the medicine I was prescribed, worsened symptoms and cause suicidal thoughts. After doing my own research, I found that Lamotrigine can add to depressive thoughts and make symptoms worse. Lamotrigine can potentially worsen depression in some individuals, leading to mood swings, irritability, and even suicidal thoughts. Instead of considering that, you made it seem like I need to go in a padded room or just a drug addict that needs inpatient treatment. Being labeled like that cause many people relapse. My mental illness due to incorrect treatment fed into substance abuse disorder. My depression worsened when I thought I finally had a correct diagnosis with ADHD and the meds only worked temporarily. Co-morbid symptoms need to both be treated to be effective. I do not have a mood disorder, the medicine is causing the symptoms. When I mentioned the hopeless feeling when the Strattera stopped working, that was not addressed. Instead, I am now having to taper off a very dangerous medication that has exaggerated my symptoms. Hopefully in the future when you come across someone that has been to treatment and completed successfully, you will not label and bring up the previous treatment at every appointment. I wish there was not such a stigma around MAT. We are not all the same.

Charged me $100 per their no show policy even though they were the ones that didn’t show up. Spent over 5 hours trying to resolve it. Still there. Good scam.

Very misleading
Very misleading. I was able to book an appointment with a doctor on zocdoc which checked and confirmed my insurance, but this service cancelled it after the fact. It refuses to coordinate with zocdoc on insurance so don’t waste your time trying to book with a psychiatrist or physicians assistant who use this service. It explains why the doctor I picked has so many free appointments. It does not serve potential patients or providers who probably waste money paying to have no appointments with patients.

Oh I'm pretty pissed
Oh I'm pretty pissed. Did their little assessment, received an email insurance is covered. Booked my appt.
A week before appt I email them twice to get information on my upcoming appt, because I had received no email on or what to expect. No response.
Come day of appt. No phone call. Nothing.
I call them and they say they show no appt while I'm literally looking at my screen shot of the appt booked.
No way would I recommend. Save your time!!!!

Avoid Talkiatry at all costs
My last appointment was October 8th, where my provider changed my prescription. It is now October 24th and I still can't get my medication because no one from Talkiatry has contacted my insurance. I am now out of medication and no one at Talkiatry can or will help me - they just make excuses about how no one can contact the prior authorization department or the doctor directly. It is appalling that an organization will simply let you run out of medications.

Beware! Talkiatry and its providers don’t hold responsibility for any damages they cause through medication management or any visits! Read my advice near the end, so you won’t learn the hard way!
This is the first and last time I ever get help from Talkiatry. I’m a new patient and new to the medication management provided by a psychiatrist. After completing Talkiatry’s assessment, they matched me with Dr. Reyes.
I started in June 2023. I had very high anxiety and depression, low motivation, and low energy—to the point that I couldn’t work or take care of my husband and our dog. Dr. Reyes prescribed me three different medications. My anxiety only decreased a little, yet I still had low energy and motivation, along with heavy fatigue, night sweats, and chills that ruined my sleep. I still couldn’t achieve any of the goals I wanted. Somehow, Dr. Reyes kept me on the same medication, even though I often told her that I was having bad side effects and symptoms. She believed it was my hormones from my birth control pills and suggested I get bloodwork done from other providers, such as a gynecologist, reproductive endocrinologist, or endocrinologist. I followed her instructions because she’s a doctor.
It took a year to gather all the bloodwork tests to convince my psychiatrist to let me try a different medication. I learned the meaning of the word “tapering” while slowly getting off the medication before starting a new one. After two weeks of tapering off, I had the worst stomach issues ever. I stopped taking any pills and paused my visits with the psychiatrist. I could hardly work at my job, which caused even more financial stress. My gynecologist suggested I see a gastroenterologist for more tests, and I also had to meet with a registered dietitian. My last visit with my psychiatrist was in June 2025.
I received a discharge letter with inaccurate reasons for why I wanted to discontinue treatment. Before calling Talkiatry to complain, I requested my medical records because I thought I might need them for my new doctor. Shockingly, the medical records contained notes from all my visits with my psychiatrist—written by Dr. Reyes! What’s worse is that there were many inaccurate details, including diagnoses I never knew about. Dr. Reyes didn’t do her job properly.
Not even Talkiatry’s vague FAQ or any part of their website explains this type of treatment. Their website is not user-friendly. I made several phone calls to Talkiatry’s Customer Service and Escalation Team to share my concerns and feedback about the poor assessment and quality of care I received. (For your information, I did have a therapist from their program, and it was an okay match, though there wasn’t much progress with my goals. When I opened up about my trauma, the therapist judged me, and I was retraumatized. That therapist resigned a few months before my stomach issues began.)
Talkiatry doesn’t regulate their providers well. They’re slow to take action, unsympathetic, and lack consistent knowledge and communication. Dr. Reyes even called me back and said it was my fault that my body couldn’t handle the side effects. She lied and refused to correct my discharge letter. In the end, the Escalation Team offered a medical amendment form to fill out, but they said there was no guarantee my medical records would be changed—it all depends on whether the provider chooses to correct the document. It’s their word against mine, and I have no written proof of my own. Even if I typed my notes in my Healow account (used for virtual visits), I can’t access them anymore since I no longer receive treatment with Talkiatry. I already wasted too much money, time, and energy.
To this day, I suffer many damages from the poor quality of care from the psychiatrist and Talkiatry. I developed IBS, slow transit colon, and I’m grieving the loss of my dog, who passed away from cancer. I’m also in medical debt. Coming off birth control made my health worse because I have menorrhagia. Ultimately, I’m in the worst mental health state I’ve ever been in.
My advice is to stay away from Talkiatry. Even after bad experiences, they’ll always offer you new providers as a solution instead of fixing the real issues. If you need medication management, go to a primary care doctor, such as a family physician or internal medicine specialist. Ask them or your insurance about genetic testing for medication, so you can avoid the trial-and-error process and get proper psychological testing from a psychologist. Always track your symptoms and visits with notes or apps, and don’t budge on what you need.
I learned these lessons and advice from my new, current therapist from Psychology Today.

Insurance Change Nightmare- No Interdepartmental Accountability
I initially requested an insurance verification in August (8/16), prior to incurring costs of visits, and am only now- (10/13), getting a reply. This is through no lack of diligence on my part- I have called, emailed, used the online portal to chat multiple times over the last 8 weeks. When my insurance was about to change I noted that my insurance provider was listed on Talkiatry’s website. Prior to my first visit following my insurance change, I called 2 weeks after I requested verification and 1 week before my next appointment to be told that my insurance was still pending verification, and I had no choice but to wait because sometimes it can take 3 weeks for verification (ludicrous). I reached out after my first $300 bill posted to my account, noting that my insurance wasn’t applied and was told someone from billing would reach out in 3 business days- that never happened. After the 2nd visit I reached out again because I got a warning about my bill being sent to collections- I have always been prompt in payment and called again. It was only during this phone call I was told that my insurance was not in network and no one had deemed it reasonable to relay this to me. The customer service agent tried to insinuate that the email I received on 9/13 was their way for telling me my insurance wasn’t in network: the email reads “we need your new insurance info: It looks like the insurance we have on file needs to be updated. This can happen if your plan has changed or if you have new insurance.” Mind you, I had already submitted my insurance info in 2 emails and the online portal and this email was received after I had called about the verification. Now, one week after my last phone call, later I am finally getting a response to my initial inquiry, saying that my insurance is not in network, which is beyond ridiculous for all of the above reasons.
I overall had been happy with my care and recommended Talkiatry to family and friends- but can no longer in good faith subject them to the same experience.
