Multiple issues:
Poor tech
Their tech simply doesn't work. Error messages to log in, have to re-enter the same information over and over.
Sales BS
Telemarketers call you to push you to sign up and make an appointment
Both left such a bad taste in my mouth I won't be using them.

Fine so long as you don’t need admin help
While the care is top-notch, the billing department refuses to answer emails.

Easy and convenient scheduling BUT TERRIBLE BILLING!!
Overall:
While the platform and scheduling experience are great, the diagnostic approach felt rushed and impersonal, and the billing practices were a complete nightmare. I can’t recommend Talkiatry based on my experience. Based on other reviews, looks like it is consistently the poor experience everyone has encountered. Try other telehealth services like Betterhelp or through your insurance provider, this I am never going back to!
Pros:
Talkiatry was easy to schedule, with far shorter wait times compared to traditional brick-and-mortar clinics.
Their follow-up and reminder system is solid, and the platform itself is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate.
My session with the psychiatrist was decent and straightforward overall.
Cons:
The doctor diagnosed me almost immediately based solely on the questionnaire and kept pushing a treatment plan.
The biggest issue, though, has been billing. When I signed up, I was told my out-of-pocket cost with insurance would be $40—but the actual bill came out to over $750. They charged me for additional services I never received. The psychiatrist’s notes reflected psychotherapy minutes that simply did not happen, and those “minutes” were of long enough duration to qualify as an additional billable service.
My insurance paid its portion according to my plan, but even after insurance, the $750 Talkiatry billed was ridiculous. When I questioned the charges, they kept insisting they “can’t break codes” after taking insurance payments—when they were the ones who billed incorrectly in the first place. I was told that if I had issues, I needed to take it up with my insurance provider, which was incredibly frustrating.

Connecting with my Doctor
Connecting with my Doctor, who is wonderful, was a real hassle at appointment time. The Healow App doesn’t work, and the associate wouldn’t connect me. My great Doctor had to phone 📞 me, so I couldn’t see her face. I might have to change services if they don’t fix it.

Crappy system, no therapists & billing blunders
After zero support in conquering the tech issues on their website and not being able to access initial visit, next scheduled visit with intake psychiatrist was an hour asking me identical questions to a survey I had already completed.
Rx couldn;t get filled as someone entered exp date instead of DOB from my drivers licence in their system.
After being bombarded by texts, calls, and emails about scheduling a visit with therapist, they had "matched" with 1 person. That person works with kids and substance abuse issues. Had no experience with older adults or my issues.
More time spent trying to get them to problem solve their issues and ended with zero therapy and 1 psych appt about 4 weeks after "registering".
Go elsewhere.
Adding billing experience: Again after conquering their system and uploading insurance info and after receiving 3 emails (remember the part about bombarding) that "Your Insurance Coverage has been Verified", a month later they send a bill in full. Had not billed insurance. wtf.
For the sake of your mental health AVOID TALKIATRY.

Deceptive pricing
Deceptive pricing. They billed my insurance company over $800 for a simple telemed medication review, claiming the psychatrist also provided counseling during the medication review -- She did not. She also hadn't talked to my therapist(also through Talkiatry) so we wasted time rehashing stuff she should have already known.
Read the fine print -- This IS a subscription service -- In addition to exorbitant rates for the services.

Derogatory Doctor
I saw a Dr Shiao through this company. Scheduling was easy and the telehealth portion went smoothly.
The doctor started out extremely condescending. Even though I outlined all of the things I had previously tried for my condition, including professional counseling, she scolded me multiple times for not having addressed it. She made derogatory comments about the severity of my condition while she played with her cat. She was extremely unprofessional with no bedside manner whatsoever.
I told her that I had had a negative experience on SSRI’s, and she proceeded to prescribe an SSRI. I went ahead and tried it because - hey - she’s the doctor. I immediately was inundated with suicidal ideations for 24 hours a day.
This doctor was too rigid and stuck to her own ideas of what some textbook says, and her own ways, that she was unwilling to see that there was an actual patient sitting before her who needed to be heard.
Extremely disappointed and humiliated.
