Beware!
I filled out a form just to get information and now they won’t leave me alone. If I wasn’t sure if I needed a therapist before…. I’m definite that I do now. I feel like I have a stalker!

.I had an extremely disappointing experience with Talkiatry and would not recommend this service. I scheduled an appointment seeking professional mental health support and expected a provider who would listen to my concerns and help me explore my options. Instead, I left feeling unheard, dismissed, and saddled with a $442 bill that I still owe for a single appointment. I asked several times about the cost and was told, “don’t worry! You’re in network! We accept your insurance and most people only pay $30” the $30 price point was referenced many times by my provider and it’s on their website so that must be what they’re trained to say. My provider requested bloodwork, for which I was billed over $200. The bloodwork tested for pregnancy and a full drug panel. I can’t get pregnant and I don’t use drugs. Why was I tested for drugs? Just to run up the bill. Why did she demand bloodwork? I don’t know, it was never explained. During the appointment, the psychiatrist seemed uninterested in my actual chief complaint and did not meaningfully engage with the concerns that brought me there. She diagnosed me with anxiety and prescribed Lexapro. I specifically explained that I was not interested in starting medication, yet medication quickly became the focus of the appointment. The only treatment option offered to me was Lexapro. I clearly stated that I did not want to take Lexapro and explained my reasons for that decision. Rather than discussing alternatives, addressing my concerns, or exploring non-medication approaches, I was told to start the medication anyway and that we could discuss it at the next appointment if I did not like it. When I pushed back and reiterated that I did not want medication, the recommendation did not change. It felt less like a collaborative discussion and more like pressure to accept a treatment I had already said I did not want. I also provided information about other psychiatric and mental health services I was already receiving, but that information appeared to be ignored. Rather than feeling like I was having a thoughtful conversation with a medical professional, I felt like I was being pushed through a predetermined process. My concerns, preferences, and treatment history did not seem to matter. After receiving the bill, I contacted customer service multiple times. Their response was simply that the visit had been coded correctly and that the charge was therefore valid. Whether the coding was technically correct completely misses the point. At no time did anyone address my concerns about the quality of care, the provider’s unwillingness to listen, the disregard for my stated treatment preferences, or the fact that I left the appointment feeling dismissed and unheard. Mental health care requires trust, communication, and respect for the patient’s concerns. Unfortunately, my experience with Talkiatry lacked all three. I paid for professional guidance and compassionate care. What I received instead was a brief, frustrating interaction, a large bill, and the feeling that no one was interested in hearing what I actually had to say. I still owe $442 for this appointment, and despite multiple attempts to resolve my concerns, the only answer I received was that the billing was correct. My concerns about the actual care I received were never meaningfully addressed. Horrible doctor. Horrible “customer service”.

This service is extremely disappointing. They say they take insurance but we were billed over $100 for a ridiculous intake that asked the same questions as the form we filled out. They were unable to connect us with anyone within - a month. My daughter tried to find out the cost, she got no answers from anyone there. Bottom line we are failing people that need help. If you or a family member need help this place will not help. It is a lot of false advertisement- shame on them for taking advantage of people that need help. Extremely disappointing.

I had a meeting to be assessed for adhd. I called ahead, confirmed they accepted my insurance (BCBS) and asked what my cost would be ($60). I met with my Dr., for a half hour, who read off a list of questions off a screen. She then asked that I get blood work done (cholesterol, thyroid, etc.) to rule out other factors. She did not have the codes or costs of the blood work. I have not had it done yet, I have been trying to figure out that cost, and can not get codes from them. I was then charged $381 for the half hour office visit. I have been going round and round with the office and my insurance trying to get it figured out. It’s been almost a month and haven’t gotten anywhere. My insurance calls them and leaves messages, and Talkatary refuses to call my ins, saying they aren’t allowed .I would recommend going elsewhere, because being told one price and being charged six times the amount, and not getting any answers is ridiculous.

I was told incorrectly when I called about my bill saying that my insurance paid it and then the man helping me said that they incorrectly bill me and that it would be removed from my account. But it turns out it wasn’t so I am so frustrated. In addition I did this only to get my medical records confirming I had ADHD so I need the record to send to my doctor but I have sent a request 3 separate times and they have never been sent to me so I feel like I paid $475 for nothing and am so disappointed and upset by this entire situation. I hope that they stop treating vulnerable people with mental health issues like this it is truly disgusting.

I was looking for an adult ADHD evaluation and was referred to Talkiatry by my primary care doctor. From the beginning of my appointment, the NP seemed disinterested. I started describing my symptoms and she stopped me, and told me to answer yes/no to a series of questions she asked. It felt like answering an online questionnaire through a person. She also asked me the same questions multiple times which shows she was not paying much attention when I spoke. At the end, she basically told me she is unsure if I have ADHD, and that she cannot treat me because I am prenatal/trying to conceive. If I knew that was the case I would not have met with her in the first place. What a waste of my time.

My daughter has been a patient since 2023. Has gone through MULTIPLE providers. There was a breach in HIPPA where someone else accessed my account, which the supervisor I spoke to gave no reason and couldn’t tell me why or give me any assurance it wouldn’t happen again. They also secretly started saving your credit cards on file and will charge you whenever you want. Not ONE time when reaching out to assistance have I been helped by anyone who knows what they are doing. AVOID!
