Like some of you poor guys on here I have had the last 3 weeks from hell from a dopey woman called Anne Middleton who treated me like I was a criminal. Luckily enough one bonus was my dbs was clear. On Another note backwards & forwards of stressing emails about my private life due to a 5 year gab of being unemployed which I think has nothing to do with them. I was offered in a letter of the 31st Oct the opportunity to go back to my old work place then on the 13th Nov it was taken away before my start date of the 19th all because there was a C cj on my credit file which isn't mine & I did not know was there!!! How can they control people like this? It's disgusting & I'm gonna sue these lot through the stress & heartache it has caused me & how its going to affect me for future employment

ERRRRR! TOTALLY INCOMPETENT, does anyone know a good lawyer to sue this company. So slow & incompetent-they should not be in business. Costing me $150 per day & a position with a company that I cant begin to replace-----ALL BECAUSE THEY CANT GET A BACKGROUND CHECK COMPLETED IN EVEN A REMOTELY REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I recently have gotten a PERMIT TO CARRY in the state of TN(good in 48 states) had 2 other background checks in last 18 months & this pathetic co. cant seem to get it done. FRUSTRATED dont even cover it--HELP!

I have had to contact STS every day for the last 14 days regarding a background check. As per all the other reviews, they send one question at a time, they didn’t contact any of the reference details I provided on my application form and in one instance contacted the wrong company altogether. Promised phone calls back never occur and one day they will tell you your checks are all complete then you’ll receive an email to say ‘you have two references outstanding’. I have had to contact HMRC to prove unemployment and despite providing offer letters and tax forms to show my dates of employment this still isn’t satisfactory. I am not surprised that people’s start dates are delayed, this looks likely in my case too, purely down to their incompetence to complete very simple checks. Please avoid at all costs, they’re reviews tell you everything you need to know.

I would rate it 0 if I can! There’s actually 2 girls that’s quite nice, but the male from verification department is always rude and sounds like he hates his job. The procedure is very slow and unprofessional, they claimed that they have international team however their team are unfamiliar with the international rules they are also very inefficient. They would email me with one question at a time, Jesus, why don’t you put all the questions together so I can answer u at once so we can save some time? This is the worst and the most frustrating experience ever!

They have to be the worst company in their field - they were aggressive in their requests which ended up in me doing everything for them. They literally couldn't even go on Google and search my previous employer to get a contact number (which is what I done). They pushed back my start date and even though I've now started, they haven't actually provided anything to my employer. This company deserves 0 stars and deserves to go under.

Missed an employment opportunity because they couldnt verify a previous employer. Responded three times by email, once by phone. I did their job for them and got direct HR contact faxes, still no one followed up. Resulted in the company taking back the offer of employment because Sterling couldn't follow up and do their job. It's just awful

I am being asked to provide my own information.....what is the company paying them for? Also, I don't want to send confidential information in email. Why don't they have a special confidential, encrypted site for exchanging personal information like mortgage companies have had for years? When it lists a reason for the request, such as 7 yrs of W-2s, it says more about what to send, not a reason. Do they understand the meaning of English words? Horrible.

The company has got to be the most ineffective for a background check. Nothing but delays and ZERO communication when it comes to concerns. You’ll be put on a back burner and completely forgotten about.
