I had to call in due a mismatch of my name with my SSN. The person I talked to was very respectful, calm, and thorough in helping me figure out my next steps to fix the issue.

Each time I’ve called for an update it’s been a prompt answer and polite interaction. I feel Sterling’s customer service has been a positive in my application process thus far.

Excellent! While completing my form, I encountered a problem with the entering residential history correctly. I called, and an agent answered me promptly. The agent helped me solve the problem, and he offered to stay online with me to help me to the end. I was fine, so I gave him the go-ahead to hangup. He was helpful, and I appreciate his help so much.

While I understand that employee background checks are complex and multi-faceted, being a bit more transparent about the progress of the background check would give employees (applicants) peace of mind. For example, providing a diagram or series of icons that participants could see upon log-in that represents what steps of the process have been completed and what steps are still in process or have yet to be initiated would be a nice feature. This would be particularly valuable given the fact that the average background check could take a few days for some but 6+ days for others, depending on how quick former employers are at responding to Sterling's inquiries. Other than that, all representative that I had the chance to speak with over the phone were very cordial and professional.
