Booked 2 apartments for the Christmas holiday at 40 Hancock Street in Boston. Arrived to find the whole building freezing cold. No heat in the hallways and both apartments cold. Called their number, they said they would send someone. No one came. We had to move my 87 year old father to another location, at our expense. After a very cold night with the heat pump blowing cold air on our faces, we spent Christmas Day elsewhere as apartment was too cold. Called again. This time they sent someone to set up 2 electric heaters. The apartment finally got kind of warm at 6:00 that night. We were leaving at 9:00 the next morning. I have spoken with 4 reps since then about a refund. Texted, called, emailed. They say they will get back to me and then don’t. Do not ever us Sonder. The worst!

I cancelled a reservation for Dubai Business bay hotel 15 hours after it was made on Booking using the "free cancellation" option that I had. The amount that came back is 170$ less than what was paid and Sonder can't do anything about it because they returned the full amount in AED (dirham) and explained that the exchange rates might've changed within these 15 hours. The question is - why do they immediately process a payment for a reservation with a free cancellation instead of freezing the funds? That's exactly what freezing is for. Won't be booking with Sonder ever again. The reservation was supposed to be more than a month and a half from now, so there was certainly no need to process the payment right away.

They make you upload photos of ur ID and than you take a facial scan to have take a facial scan in order to access your room. You dont find this out until after you have already booked your room. Major privacy invasion

I arrived at Sonder in DC from a long and tiring trip late at night. I struggled to check in, the entire process was so confusing as I hadn't recieved the mail yet. Luckily a guest walked in around 11pm and let me use her phone to call. I unfortunately have no service in USA (traveling from abroad). Then around 12am, super tired I opened my bed and it appeared as if it wasn't clean, I checked the duvet and there was a blood stain on it. I logged a request online, waited almost 1 hour for feedback only to be told I need to get clean bedding and change it myself! This was highly concerning and dissapointing. How can bedding be unclean, this poses a huge health risk and is disguising! Also, how can they ask me to change it, they should have given me another room. I wouldn't recommend Sonder to anyone. It's not worth it at all.

They outsource customer support (Philippines, clearly), causing consistent confusion with the agents since some of the issues are on-site/geolocation related.

Worst booking experience ever. Booked at Hotel.com and then got an e-mail from soder.com which I saw just by chance where they required me to go through a 1 hours intens ID verification and login process. That has cost me now 1 hour of my valuable sleep before the trip and put me at risk that it had failed which would have forced me to deal probably for more hours with this ridiculous process and maybe lead to rejection of access to the hotel room which I've already booked. Avoid at any means !!!!

We arrived the 2nd of January for a permanence of 5 nights, the first impression (even before entering the room) was not the best, the personnel was way to pressing and insisting about knowing our plans and programs, resenting the invasive. Overwhelming to say the least. Then we arrived in the standard room and I can truly say I was surprised, not in a positive way. The room was extremely small, nothing like the picture they show, very bad kept and organized, literally no space to hang clothes (it’s full winter in January). For 2 people and a permanence of 5 night there was no space to move. Then the very first night around 00.00 our room lost all electricity, therefore we were forced to wait in hall up until 1.35am to get back in, in a very uncomfortable bedding.. The very next morning we left the hotel, tired about the night and with the hotel staff that was completely careless about the situation. Not even a “we are sorry, this is not our standard”. I’m very sorry to say that this was one of the worst experiences in an hotel of this category, extremely overrated! The good point are: the location, and a nice breakfast.

They saw ground up w*ed in the apartment and charged me for smoking inside even though I smoked out on the street and there was no smoke smell or ash—when I appealed the charge they said it was irreversible. Ripped me off.
