Big Pet Food prioritizes profits over cat health and they pack cat food with preservatives and fillers. Smalls believes cats deserve better and uses natural ingredients and added vitamins and minerals in our food. Our recipes are cooked with minimal processing. After cooking, our recipes are then frozen to maximize freshness and shipped off to happy cats across the country.

Cats are really liking the food a lot. Though my waste has increased using a subscription service like this and how the meals are portioned, they still keep the packaging very minimal for what it is. I do not give 5 stars purely because of the issues I have with opening the individual food packages. I’ve gone through over three weeks’ worth of food for two cats and neither my boyfriend nor I have been able to use the tab they provide to open the plastic packaging. I only ever succeed in ripping the sticker off. I have to use scissors and wrestle it open every time.

High Five! Great quality food for my little loved ones!

The chicken kibbles - big hit. Freeze dried chicken - big hit. Frozen food - moderate hit. That's okay, the dry food is great in that I know it's grain free and great ingredients. I'll continue to purchase the dry food, but probably not the frozen food. I give the dry food 5 stars.

The food is exceptional! It smells good, the cats smell better, [even their poops smell better], and there was no "transition" -- they loved it from the beginning. Yes, my two exceptionally picky cats loved it from the start. I basically hate pet food: the smell, the texture, the appearance. That old saying of the elderly poor surviving by eating cat food runs thru my mind frequently when opening a can of cat food. And now? Well, I think I could make a "chicken salad" sandwich out of Smalls minced chicken and enjoy it. It looks and smells like chicken, not like something scraped from a slaughterhouse floor. Service and the concierge's response have been very good as well. No complaints whatsoever! Thanks, y'all for my happy cats!

The positives: My 2 cats really like the some of the food and really dislike some of the food. The kibble is a hit, and 2 of the 4 (i think there are 4) wet food blends are a hit. Personally I like knowing that I'm feeding them better for them food that's not stuffed with fillers. Like that the company uses the biodegradable shipping materials - that's a big plus and wish other companies would follow. Customer service is fantastic as well, everyone who i've interacted with have been friendly, helpful and professional. The negatives: Really only 2 for me with the first one being the cost. It's basically twice as expensive as any other cat food on the market if you want to feed your cats a decent amount of wet and dry. Sure you could just feed them kibble, but there are still a ton of healthy non filler kibble options on the market that are considerably less expensive. The wet food is why I tried Smalls, but unfortunately it's prohibitively expensive (2 cats, economy tanking) to feed them a lot of wet. Other negative is the packaging on the wet food - it's basically impossible to open. I've managed to peel one of ten wet food packs open as intended, the others i've had to tear open with scissors and knives and made a mess.

I have 5 cats and they all showed allergic reactions to Smalls Beef Pate and vomited severely after eating. 3 out of 5 are still vomiting that I should take them to vet. Smalls should investigate their food (batch no.0206). Smalls food are not all safe to our cats!!!

Hi Tomoko, Kate here. I just responded to your messages in our inbox, but thought I would follow up with you here as well. We are so sorry to hear about your kitties' allergic reaction! I assure you that we take reports like these very seriously, and I appreciate you providing us with the batch number so I can follow up with our production team. This is the first we are hearing of such a strong reaction, but I can tell you that protein-wise, our Beef recipe is our richest recipe by far and can be harder to introduce to cats with sensitive stomachs. A tablespoon or so at a time, mixed with their old food is the best way to introduce new foods in general, but I sometimes recommend adding some fresh water to the food as well. Cats who eat too quickly, especially a new food that they aren't used to, may end up vomiting which can be very stressful! I find that adding the water slows them down a bit and also helps them to adjust to their new food more easily. We are always happy to help customize your orders based on dietary restrictions-- it's even a step in our Try at Home sampler quiz, because we never want to send your cats food that they are allergic to. I hope to hear back from you soon to talk more about how we can adjust your future orders to keep all of your kitties happy and healthy!

Both my cats love the kibbles and gublet snacks- in fact, as soon as I put it in their bowls, it's gone. One of my cats is a Maine Coon and she is extremely picky, so for her to like this good- well, I'm sticking with it!
