A Horrid Experience With The Skagen Customer Service Department. PLEASE READ.
I recently purchased a Skagen watch for my wife. She through e-mail, was offered a 20% discount as being a first time buyer. We were given a discount code, 883789, but it could not be entered. The purchase went through without the discount. I called customer service and spoke to a "kiddie" named Ijaz who informed me in his child like manner I would need to wait for a FedEx tracking number and call the company back to receive the discount, a waste of my time and effort. My wife and I agreed this was not the kind of business we wanted to partake in and asked him to cancel the order and give us a refund. He claimed he could not according to company policy. He did not take ownership of his job and I asked for a supervisor...he hung up. I called the next morning and spoke to an agent named Neil. I explained the prior evening and he too hung up. I called back and spoke to a woman named Chris who claimed it was company policy to adjust the account at a later time. I asked to speak to her supervisor and was transferred to Crystal, who claimed the watch was shipped and there was nothing she could do. I said I would contact my bank, BOA, and dispute the charge. I was told it was in my rights and we hung up. I did contact BOA immediately and disputed the charge. Three days later FedEx delivered the watch which I refused, and it was sent back to Mesquite Texas. I have no idea how long it will take to be refunded or how much work I will need to do to that end. I called Skagen customer service and spoke to a young man who could have cared less about the return or loss of business. NO healthy fear within the customer service department. Unacceptable. I wonder if the founders, the husband and wife, who no doubt toiled and sacrificed to make the company strong, know it is rotting from the inside. I understand the Fossil Group purchased Skagen and I feel don't realize like a garden, if not tended it will die. I would not recommend Skagen to anyone who wants a pleasant experience in watch buying. They are what customer service is not about as they appear to have taken the customer out customer service. I own a Skagen chronograph but avoid wearing it as when on my arm, every time I look at it I think of the bad experience I have had dealing with their customer service department. My watch of choice is Citizen and purchased the Skagen only as a novelty and it's clean cut lines simplicity and price. I thought it was a value but won't get fooled again.
