Not a scam but not a celebration
First. They arent a scam. They are easy to deal with. Very attentive and will answer all your questions and they will list it on their legit website.... thats kinda where it ends. (For us at least) We had it listed almost 2yrs and never had any hits off this (listed at a third of the purchase price for a quick sale...) until the ONE sale offer 2yrs in (for a third of our already cheap listed price = definately, ouch!) This was all handled from first contact through to closure by an independent brokerage seperate to smtsn that uses them as a database in addition to their own clients....so could you get rid of a middle man? Im not sure. Worth a look. We had fees with smtn and then 2 additonal brokerage fees that significantly affected the sale price. (So not really "free") ....and you need to spend a few hundred on a notary to stamp all your paperword on your end.... so again ouch. BUT, we will never buy one again - lesson learnt - and smtsn DID accomplish that sale in the end. (If i could find a brokerage willing to find a buyer without them though it could have saved another $1500+ to recoup inital purchase price) so not ungrateful but not celebrating. Note: we live in canada. Timeshare was in mexico. Smtsn is USA....so lots of legalities im sure.
