My wife purchased the walk in tub with shower package. I was disappointed in that this was sold as a big boy tub. But i am 6'3" tall and when i sit in this tub i can not shut the door. My legs are in the way. I am also fixing a leak issue in my basement under this tub. They had installed a rubber connection between there tub and my drain pipe. i had to tighten this connection and noticed they had also run the electrical wiring tight against my plumbing. I have contacted the service number but the lady representative had told me to go to Home depot to fix the water issue upstairs.My wife paid 15000 plus for this tub. I am not happy. will be calling them back again later today to see if I can get the issues resolved. After i get the door shut by almost standing on the seat it has some nice features. But I am still upset over the way it was advetised.

For the high price, I got a lot of doo-dads I don't care about (especially the colored lights; I could even do without the water jets or the aerating mini-bubbles.) But there are a few things that could have been better that I definitely don't like: The door shape means I have to dodge it when I open or close it when I'm standing in the tub. It's good for showers; but using it for baths means it needs regular cleaning with dishwasher soap. (Otherwise, you get yucky brown water when you fill it for a bath.) And a bath means waiting AT LEAST 2 minutes for it to drain before you can get out of it. The drain could and should be faster! And filling it for a bath takes a lot of time and hot water,

A Safe Step Walk-in Tub was installed in our home for my 84 y/o Mom on March 19, 2016. The tub has served my Mom well but the shower package she received has been and is a bust and is not like the shower package advertised. We have not had problems with the tub but had I known the lost of a functional bathroom shower would occur, I would have chosen a different model, design, and company. Also, when we have overnight visitors or need to provide accommodations for funerals, weddings or other such situations, we are down one shower. This has been a major problem and disappointment. We requested a shower package replacement or upgrade that has yet to happen as of April 2020. I would still like a functional shower package but I don't need to experience problems like the complaints I have been reading. Regarding this product...Safety "Yes"...Convenience "NO" due to the loss of a functional bathroom shower for my family.

1/12/17: Tub price=15,426$ (Could have bought a new Kia Soul).12/6/18: Tub flooded bathroom (tank under tub "popped" off). 12/28/18: Defuser and pump replaced; leaking continued; replaced tubing was incorrect diameter. 3/24/2019: tub flooded bathroom and kitchen. Asked for replacement or refund. 4/24/19: SafeStep said to file insurance claim; I said no. 4/29/19: Technician sent. 5/15/19: Tub leaked. 5/16/19: Ashley insinuated I was at fault! 5/17/19: Crystal called and wanted to know if I wanted "to save money" via Medicare. I should talk to agent. I declined. 5/23/19: Reported to BBB. 6/4/19: requested removal. 3/16/20: Tried tub; leaked again. 3/20/20: Still awaiting removal.

We purchased the tub two years ago. It was installed, with no problem, and it is an excellent unit. The shower head could use improvement, as it has only two settings, and sprays outward. My main problem, is with the door. The salesman, repeatedly, reassured me that my husband would have no problem getting in and out of the tub. Once installed, the workman noted he was surprised I was sold the tub, as my husband is a large man. Sure enough, once my husband gets in, we have trouble closing the door. Therefore, he has barely used it. We had purchased this tub specifically for my husband, who suffered a stroke. This is so disappointing. Given the expense already accrued, It is questionable what to do next.

Safe Step Walk in Tub/Shower misrepresents the services and products regarding shower installation. When purchased, salesman said Safe Step manufactures, installs, and maintains their product. They do NOT. An area plumber is subcontracted to install. When I informed Safe Step representative that having a random plumber install is not the same as Safe Step installing it I was told Safe Step pays the plumbing company to install the product and subcontracting is common in construction work. I then asked if the plumbing company’s only employment is installing their product and they don’t do any other work. Representative said she can’t say that. If the subcontractor does other work then they do not have the same vested interest as a Safe Step employee. Not installing Safe Step products might cause some financial loss but not unemployment or loss of company benefits. The Safe Step company does not install their product! The standard installation package includes a rain shower head. We specifically told the salesman we don’t like those and want a regular shower head. We would not have purchased this or signed a contract if told it wasn’t provided. However, the salesman said no problem and wrote our request for a regular shower head in contract notes. Contract signed in October 2019. Work didn’t start until 12/4/2019. Contractor tore out shower on 12/4, gutting half the bathroom. Work delayed 6 days while I had a separate plumber move a water pipe in the way of Safe Step install. Safe Step contractor arrived for second day of work. On arrival I asked he check to see if regular shower head had been included. It wasn’t. Contractor immediately walked off the job doing no other work. Construction stopped while plumbing company contacted Safe Step. I was told by Safe Step representative they don’t have an option for a regular shower head. Safe Step approved contractor go to a local Lowes and buy a shower head. Safe Step representative could not explain why salesperson would say regular shower head was available. Perhaps salesman wanted to make a $10,000.00 sale rather than lose it over a $30.00 item? Doesn’t anyone at the company review contracts? Why didn’t someone at the company contact me prior to any construction to say they don’t offer regular shower heads? Salesman said Safe Step product has lifetime warranty. Received warranty on completion. The shower walls are just 3/8 inch thick sheets of acrylic material glued to drywall. Only the acrylic material and shower pan have a lifetime warranty to not split or crack. Warranty is voided unless the shower is cleaned monthly. Bet they use that excuse to void warranties. Prove it was cleaned every month. The built-in fold up chair, THE main component of the shower package, has only a 2 year warranty for defects. Installation, caulking, and “other shower components” also have only a 2 year defect warranty. Salesman said work installation would be 2-4 days. Old shower was torn out on 12/4/2019, but new install was not completed until 12/29/2019. Contractor was there a total of 4 days. Delays caused by contractor failing to show up for 3 appointments. A different excuse used each time. Another delay caused because of earlier issue with shower head. Of the 4 days contractor was there, on 2 days he arrived almost 3 hours late. Safe Step also doesn't cover any work to finish area around the install. Expect to pay a couple hundred more on that!

Terrible experience. I made this mistake of calling from my office to set up an appointment. They continued to call my work after I repeatedly told them DO NOT call me at work. Call my cell phone. When I finally got sick of it after I was told, once again they called, I called them back. Because my phone number came up in their system they immediately called me by name and I informed them once again they called they work. To which the extremely rude lady on the phone said "Hey, this is an inbound call, you called us' with what can only be described as confrontational, rude and arrogant tone. I then told her you called me and I am calling you back from that number. I read her the riot act and told them I have repeatedly told you not to call here and don't be so smug because I am actually returning your call. Then hung up. Simply put if you can't follow a simple instruction like that do you really think I would let you change my bathroom around? To the business I say simply... Better customer service representatives on your phones who actually listen, address your concerns and conduct themselves in a professional manner will get your further. Sad.. sad... sad. You wasted money on an advertisement only to have your first point of contact throw it away for you.

My 92 year old mother recently bought a tub. The sales rep suggested an ADA toilet, as well, because of her limited mobility. The tub was installed, and the installer began cleaning up. My mom asked if he would be installing her toilet, too. Installer didn’t know she was supposed to get a toilet, and asked why she didn’t tell him sooner (the toilet is clearly listed on her invoice). He went out to a hardware store and bought a toilet. Once it was installed, my mom noticed that it appeared to be lower than the toilet it replaced. The installer told her that he couldn’t install an ADA toilet because of a countertop over the area, “and it’s a Kohler”! There was nothing wrong with my mom’s toilet, she simply thought a higher one would be better for her. I contacted Customer Service, and was told that the toilet is ADA compliant, and “it’s a Kohler”! The toilet installed by Safe Step is approximately 14” high. ADA standard is 17” to 19”. Safe Step Customer Service representative kept insisting toilet is compliant, and offered no remedy. Very disappointed in this company. My mom can’t enjoy her tub because she can’t get over being fleeced on the ADA toilet.
