Had a couple's therapist on Rula who joined the call late and did not come prepared. Less than one hour into the session, the therapist called me abusive after we provided an example of miscommunication. I called out this assessment as arrogant, given that we were on our first session, less than one hour in. The therapist then stated that the only person who would be doing the teaching would be her. I ended the call then and there, as we would not work with someone that close minded. After the call, my wife and I agreed this person generalized our situation, was rude and unqualified. Thankfully my wife and I are in a good position and were able to laugh this off. Had this been a couple in a darker state, this session could have been disastrous, not to mention dangerous for the patients (if they had been in an abusive relationship) I will not be using Rula again after this experience.

I am writing to express my concerns regarding a recent experience I had with your service, which has left me feeling quite unsettled. Recently, I verbally communicated my intention to cancel my sessions with my therapist on August 23, 2024. However, I was surprised to see a cancellation fee applied to my account on September 3, 2024. I believe that clear communication is essential in any therapeutic relationship, and I thought I had taken the appropriate steps to ensure a smooth cancellation process. Additionally, I noticed that my therapist canceled future appointments without any prior notification. This lack of communication has contributed to my disappointment, as I value the connection and consistency that therapy provides. I truly believe in the importance of mental health and the positive impact it can have on our lives. However, my recent experiences have made it difficult for me to continue with Tula Health. I hope that my feedback can help improve communication for future clients, as I know how vital it is to foster a supportive and understanding environment. I was charged two 99$ fees for missed sessions. I have never missed a session and theres proof that my copay was withdrawn from my bank the same day after the session. Very disorganized. You are supposed to help with mental health, not stress out your patients more because you can't hire competent people to get the billing correct. Also very 1st therapist Kristin Bauer did a no show on me. 1st appointment ever, I waited 20 min. Did I get any compensation for wasting my time? For making sure I had a babysitter to watch my baby to make time for a 1st time session with a therapist? No. Thats 3 strikes for me. Good bye and good riddance and I refuse to pay 2 no show fees that were both fake.

I would have rated it 5 stars because my therapist was absolutely amazing but unfortunately I had a really bad experience with the company Rula itself. I received a piece of mail stating that I got approved for 9 more sessions. My therapist told me that she never got informed of this information so she began keeping track of the sessions. Fast forward to what should have been my second to last session, I noticed a charge from Rula in the amount of $150. I contacted both my therapist and the company. My therapist had no idea that my sessions were coming to an end, she told me that they usually contact them and let them know when sessions are coming to an end. Rula emailed me back saying that my insurance stopped paying July 31st and I had a session Aug 12th. I was NEVER informed that my sessions were ending and it's unfair and ridiculous that I was charged without my therapist or myself being informed.

$100 penalty with 24 hours notice. This is absolutely unacceptable. You get to bill my insurance for the session whether or not I'm able to attend. People have lives and little children. Life happens and you don't always have 24 hours notice. At kaiser I have up to 15min before my appointment to reschedule without any type of penalty.

Very confusing booking experience. Appointment booked, cancelled, and re-booked by Rula with no explanation.

Rula has terrible customer service and does not resolve issues in a timely or reasonable manner. I was charge double for a service and made numerous phone calls and emails to request a resolution and a week later, I still have no resolution. It is currently an escalated matter. It’s ironic that these issues come from a mental health service. Truthfully, Rula contributes to stress and frustration, the last thing someone with mental health wants to deal with.

I contacted Rula and requested an lgbt friendly and autism friendly therapist and they assigned me to Dr. Letrilla King. I’m nonbinary trans masc and gay, and right off the bat she deadnamed me the entire session despite me telling her my preferred name. I asked her a few questions, when I asked if she was familiar with working with trans and lgbt clients, she told me her uncle was gay and her nephew is trans but that she wishes he didn’t “shove it” in her face. Also referred to past transgender clients as “transgendered” clients. I asked her autism related questions, and she was clearly not very educated on the topic- though her responses weren’t bad. She kept bringing the topic back around to my gender and the topic of lgbt people, told me that a male client liked wearing women’s underwear and that he had to find a different partner that liked that. ….thats kink related and has nothing to do with lgbt stuff so I’m not sure why she brought that up. I also mentioned my old job and how the staff were very rude and transphobic to me when I wore make-up, claiming that if I was trying to be a man I couldn’t wear any make-up. She agreed with that sentiment until she saw my facial reaction and backtracked, saying gay men and trans people can wear make-up too. When she saw that I was dressed more femme presenting, she randomly brought up that I shouldn’t be upset if people misgender me. If people don’t know or make a mistake, sure. Not sure why she felt the need to tell me that though, unless she meant to imply trans people overreact when being misgendered. Shows her disconnect to how painful and hurtful it is to be misgendered. Overall, it was obvious she wasn’t familiar or educated with working with transgender, lgbt, or autistic clients. I left the session feeling belittled, invalidated, and incredibly upset. It’s very concerning to me that when I asked for an lgbt friendly therapist, she was the one they gave me. IF YOU ARE LGBT OR TRANS, DO NOT GO TO HER. Transgender people are already a very vulnerable group that experience transphobia within their daily lives, it’s very dangerous to refer them to an uneducated therapist who holds transphobic ideals.
