False information regarding insurance & what I pay. Also terrible communication from customer service.

This company really sucks
This company really sucks! I don't know why my provider went this route but it is horrible! For a place dealing with mental health it will make you go off of the rails like I feel I am. They still haven't done my secondary insurance after months.

Paid $300 / Week & Denied Payment plan & Patient Care
I was using Rula for almost two years. My insurance paid 5 appointments in 2025 and in August 2026 they took the payment back leaving me with a balance of over $600. I'm self pay now have paid every appointment on time $150!! I was denied a payment plan even thought I was paying $300 a week, one for my appointment that week and one payment for an old appointment. I had never been late on a payment and was still denied a payment plan due to a "technical transition". I finally paid off that amount within about 3 weeks. My provider books a month out so I will be out of therapy for about two months which happened suddenly. Then I paid off the balance today, messaged the customer service center and was told they put a ticket into the billing team but would not provide a window of time. Then finally said they were escalating to billing right now and then disconnected the chat. The rep was kind I know she doesn't make the policies. Rula has changed, paying $300 a week is a lot and being denied a payment plan so I could continue my patient care.

Therapy prevented by dishonest and incompetent tech support
Therapist was fine, site itself and tech support is incompetent and non-existent. I've never gotten a password reset email, their platform wouldn't let me message my regular therapist, and support either lied to me or ignored what I said. It's pretty clearly a vibe-coded website and the company has no one capable of fixing it. They also didn't notify me that the practitioner was on vacation and thus not renewing my meds.

I am a therapist with 40 years…
I am a therapist with 40 years experience, interested in exploring Rula. I had a meeting scheduled for 2pm, had husband take time off from work to attend with me. At 12 pm I get an email that meeting was canceled with no explanation. I tried calling and was told that department didnt have a phone line ( what?) but I could expect an email with a resolution. I got an email back saying they have a 'higher volume of requests then usual' and someone wouod get back to me. I have not heard back. My experience with Rula this far is an epic fail: certainly not the professionalism I would have expected.

Bad therapy is worse than no therapy.
Bad therapy is worse than no therapy.
The AI note-taking tool is NOT optional. I asked my therapist in our last session to please disable it, because I am not comfortable with AI assisted therapy. She said that, in that case, she can't work with me as my therapist.
I worked with two providers before swearing off Rula. I switched because it just wasn't a good fit; different approaches, different opinions, and very different people.
The second provider I worked with gave me two sessions of great therapy. She was empathetic, compassionate, warm, and seemed to genuinely care about me.
Until I said "no" to her.
I began the session by talking about how well her advice had worked, and how much happier I've been since I set some boundaries with my family. While I was upset in the moment about something, I told her that I was confident that I could get a handle on it. I thought that she would celebrate with me, but she said nothing.
Instead, she told me that I need a "higher level of care". This was very confusing to me, and I expressed that confusion. Her attitude did a complete 180. Suddenly she was cold, critical, dismissive, and rude. It caught me completely off guard, and upset me very much, because I felt like I had made genuine progress that wasn't even being acknowledged. She was talking about "a higher level of care" as though it was a done deal that I had no say in or control over, which was extremely triggering for me.
She also asked me questions that I had spent our first sessions answering; why am i estranged with my mother? Why do I need to set boundaries? What are my goals in therapy? She even asked me (again) what my previous diagnoses were. This was also confusing and destabilizing to me, because I could not understand why she didn't remember.
At first, I assumed that the AI Notetaking tool wasn't picking up important details. So I asked her to disable the tool. She confessed that she doesn't know how. I asked her to find out.
During that session, she explained everything that I had done wrong in the previous one, and let me know that she will not hesitate to "make that phone call," if she thinks she should. Which was utterly bonkers to me, because I haven't communicated ANY thoughts or intentions of hurting myself or anybody else, nor have I had them.
Today, I opened the session by asking her if she had been able to disable the notetaking tool. She admitted that she hadn't, that she didn't want to, and wasn't going to. I made several suggestions (because people have been doing therapy way before AI), but she shut them all down.
"I'm not comfortable with AI assisted therapy."
"Then I'm not going to work with you as your therapist."
Edit/update:
I have received an email letting me know that I am being charged $99 for CANCELING the appointment I had just logged off from.
I did not cancel it. I was there. She told me she would not work with me, I thanked her for her time, and ended the session.
I have not been able to reach a real person to rectify this. Yesterday, I talked to an AI chat bot. While it used empathetic language, I was not able to rectify the charge, or to file any kind of complaint about the therapist. It said that it was "escalating" the matter, and that i will be hearing from them in 3-5 business days.
Yet they found this review and commented on it right away.
They care more about PR than patients.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!!
So I dont know how you guys think that this is helping people. Insurance prices are through the roof. For a 36 y/o male that is extremely healthy with no preexisting issues the lowest quote monthly was $836. Once I have Insurance i still have to pay a copay, which will run me anywhere fron $15- $50. Without Insurance Rula is charging me $150 per 60min therapy session and $225 for psychiatrist session!! If I do one session a week thats $600 a month!! What regular working American can afford that???!!!! I have severe depression already and the fact that I need therapy and cant afford it just makes my depression that much worse. It crazy how a company can claim that they are here to help you but only cause more stress, depression and anxiety for me!!! Thats not ok!! I guess only Wealthy people can get mental health...no one worries about the ones that cant and that wrong! You guys should be ashamed!!!!
