It has been really difficult to find a good therapist on Rula compared to other platforms I have used and I'm not sure why. By good I mean good in a basic way that includes basic professionalism. Multiple therapists on the platform have booked intake appointments with me and then told me either during the appointment or very early on in our sessions that they are taking a break from their practice for weeks or leaving the platform, sometimes even on the day of our next appointment. They then cancel all of our upcoming sessions. Others have done so much self disclosure that it felt as if my sessions were actually their therapy sessions. I knew way too much about these people and their lives in a very short amount of time. I called Rula and told them that I am having a difficult time with their platform because of this and had them recommend the next therapist. This didn't seem to help but their customer service was at least pleasant to speak with. The therapist they recommended seemed extremely disinterested and also seemed to be using an AI summarization app that I don't recall consenting to the use of. The last time I called to articulate all of the concerns mentioned here, but the rep was not receptive and I could not say that it was a positive customer service experience. Overall I have never had this experience on any other therapy platform. Rula is covered by my insurance so I'm trying to use it but it has been strangely disappointing. I will see if there's a way to mention this to my insurance provider as well.

Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience during my first appointment. I felt judged rather than supported, and at times the therapist compared my children to their own personal experience, which did not feel appropriate or helpful to me. There were also moments where assumptions seemed to be made before I had fully explained myself. I chose this therapist mainly because the office was conveniently located near my city, but overall, I did not feel the level of professionalism, preparation, or engagement I was hoping for in a first session. The interaction felt superficial and not particularly thoughtful or insightful. I’m sharing this feedback because first therapy experiences matter, especially for people who may be seeking help for the first time.

It was nice to get an appointment quickly but the therapy I received wasn’t beneficial and my therapist stopped attending scheduled appointments suddenly with no explanation.

I met with a therapist the first time and the 2nd session was already setup, she messaged me a little before the 2nd session and said she had to reschedule. We setup the next day at the same time. She confirmed the appointment. I signed in and she did not show. I waited the entire hour. I was very disappointed.

There was no real diagnosis or treatment, just someone listening, my wife does that better than a (professional).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I got an appointment with Janet quickly, and from our very first virtual meeting, she felt like an amazing fit. She’s professional, attentive, and easy to connect with—exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend! 4/8/26 update billing department is slow to respond to resolve and charged my card on file $68 and change without getting authorization from me. I was quoted $10 copay. Found out provider was out of network. Verify with insurance prior to booking. I will update this again.

Too many "refer a friend" emails. When I had a technical issue the response was prolific but didn't resolve the issue. The therapist abruptly stopped the sessions without explaining the reason. I actually had a moment when I thought he had me confused with another person. This platform is too reliant on AI and my experience with them made me feel like a statistic.

The Rula website and representatives incorrectly said that they are in-network with my insurance, when they actually are not. The customer support representatives kept insisting they had worked with my insurance company and that they confirmed they were in-network, however after meeting my in-network deductible I kept getting billed the full price and having that cost go towards my "out of network deductible". It took 3 times contacting Rula support before they agreed that they are not in-network. I felt kind of gaslit and crazy when I'm just trying to get mental health care, and I really didn't appreciate it. My actual therapist was great though, and I'm disappointed I can't keep working with her.
