grossly unsanitary toilet in penthouse suite, also bathroom floor. No captains dinner. 3/4 restaurants served dry, tasteless food. Excursions poorly adjusted to bad weather without easy corrective action possible, based on weather outlook. - Overall overpaid cruise

Food was terrible and definitely not worth the price.
The room was nice, but the food was terrible and the price is not worth it.

Standards are falling on RSS
Boarded the RSS Mariner on 13 June in Miami.
Suites are lovely. Stewards, restaurant and bar staff all great.
However, couple of small but important points to note:
Day 1
No limes or mint available on the deck bar, which means that a number of cocktails aren't available due to lack of ingredients.
Day 2
Still no limes available on the deck bar, which means that a number of cocktails aren't available due to lack of ingredients.
No strawberry jam available at afternoon tea.
I raise these points as mint, limes and strawberry jam are staples and they have not been available on Day 1 and/or Day 2 after leaving Miami, where there are plentiful stocks of these items.
Someone isn't fulfilling their job requirements as we have always found things to be perfect on RSS ships. Come on RSS you can do much better than this.

The refrigerator was not cold enough…
The refrigerator was not cold enough and the food I bought spoiled. I asked the butler to fix it but he said nothing could be done.

Emphatically not a 6 star ultra luxury…
Emphatically not a 6 star ultra luxury experience in our opinion. Public health concerns following repeated outbreaks of 'gastric illness ' coupled with highly disappointing food, all within a wrapper of an ageing vessel merits an ultra negative verdict from us. Very disappointed.

Regent does not live up to its brand promise.
Based on its marketing, I was expecting an incredible customer service experience. Unfortunately, the cruise line does not live up to its brand promise. We booked a concierge level suite since we loved the concierge experience on Virgin Cruises, but regent does not come close to Virgin. The cabins are well-appointed, but the. Service level lacked substantially. One morning we ordered breakfast to the room, and our eggs and coffee were cold. The two restaurants that require reservations provided excellent food and service. Compass Rose was decent, but the Italian restaurant was a disappointment. Our waiter never told us there was an array of appetizers to chooses from on the buffet. We learned this when we went up for desert. When I mentioned to our waiter that he failed to mention the appetizers, he did not apologize. He just said we could always start again. The tours that were included were very good, but the destination services staff were not friendly at all. I felt like I was in a NY camera shop when speaking with them.
We had an early train on the day of departure so we asked if we could depart early. Three separate people told us that there would be no problem. When we went to depart, the woman first yelled at us. When we mentioned that 3 different people told us we could depart early. Her response: “Go ahead and leave. I don’t care what you do.” Not the thanks for cruising with Regent I was kind of expecting.
One thing that really bothered me is the night we went to pack our things before departure. The water bottles given by the ship as a “gift” were no where to be found. My wife asked the reception desk about them and was told that “they guessed you didn’t want them. After we said that we did, our concierge came back with our glasses. Why anyone would make such an assumption before we were packed does not make sense. After that incident, I felt a need to check to make certain other items were not removed from the room.
We have another Regent cruise planned in November and we are having serious second thoughts based on our experience. For the price we paid for outstanding service, Regent failed miserably.

Sayonara Regents Cruises, stay away and try other brands.
Third regents cruise, between them many other cruise companies. I am currently in the Sakura highlights one and so far this is no luxury experience. Service is pretty bad with servers openly speaking bad about their work, or distracted with mundane conversations about their lives. Had many orders come wrong to our table. Food in the Compass Rose is not even close to the first 2 Regents cruises. Having versace dishes doesnt make a restaurant good. I would say this is now like MSC or Celebrity upper classes but at 5x the price. Specialty restaurants are not here not there, just ok. The room services is pretty bad, meaning like it will fill your belly but dont expect good food. The all inclusive excursions are a terrible thing.. 5 or 6 hours in a bus for a 30 minute fast walk to whatever attraction is. Really pathetic organization and the food is even worse. Overall for a more than 50K US Dollara cruise this is no luxury cruise but more of a Private Equity attempt to lower costs and increase benefits. They should be ambarrased to call themselves a luxury cruise and go back to Reinassance, Radisson times.. I mean at some point old people will not be around and new generations will need better options.

An unrivaled experience…but not in a good way
The South African itinerary was nice. The crew members were, by and large, friendly and trying to make the most of the situation but that’s where the pleasantries finish. Tired, outdated ship. Below average food, unhelpful guest services, average entertainment, poorly organized schedule with minimal activities onboard. Expected a lot more for the ridiculous price. Not a fan of larger ships but all things considered, I’d rather be on a larger ship with much nicer offerings than a smaller ship that has mastered mediocrity. We were “shopping “ for a higher end/luxury cruise experience. The Regent SSC experience was one enormous missed opportunity. We will keep looking…
