Star Sitter Extortion
I booked a sitter thru Rover with a Star Sitter. It was my first time booking. I forgot to click on pick/drop box, however I asked the sitter that I can pay cash. He had no objection. When my dog was dropped off, his leash was missing. It was brought to the sitter's attention and he said he would check. When he did not respond, I asked him and he said he did not have it. When I asked for a replacement, he indicated after settling the transportation cost! I mentioned that he never said anything and I reported him to Rover Support. It has been 8 days and even he admitted to have lost the leash, they are still investigating. Do you think how long does it take to investigate a $30.00 leash? I posted a review on the sitter and it has not been posted so far. Unfortunately, there is no partial star to rate my dealings with the Rover Support. All communication with sitter and support is available. Update: Thank you, Rover, for your prompt response. I wish that your promptness would have been duplicated earlier. Your response is amazingly lacking the main issue. My dog's leash that the sitter never returned and asking for more money. It was summarized in only my review of the sitter. Thank you.

Hi there, we’re sorry to hear about this experience and understand how frustrating it must feel. Our investigations are thorough and may review multiple aspects of a booking, especially since payment through Rover is required under our Terms of Service. Regarding reviews, they aren’t posted immediately because sitters can also review pet parents. This helps prevent retaliatory reviews. Your review will post after 21 days or once the sitter submits theirs, whichever comes first. If you’d like an update on the investigation, Rover Support is available 24/7 at (888) 453-7889. -Brittney
