During an active animal emergency
During an active animal emergency, I contacted Rover Trust & Safety and specifically asked them to remain on the line while I worked to recover the animal. They ended the call anyway. I had to call back, and on the occasions I was able to reach someone, the support was largely unhelpful. Fortunately, the animal was recovered safely, but Rover’s emergency response left me with very little confidence in the safety infrastructure they advertise. Also worth knowing, whether you’re an owner or sitter: the Rover Guarantee is not insurance. After reading the Terms closely, my view is that it functions largely as a limited reimbursement program while substantial liability and risk remain with the owner and sitter. Read the fine print before assuming Rover is protecting you when something goes wrong.

Hi David, we’re glad to hear the animal was recovered safely, but we’re sorry the support you received during such a stressful situation fell short of expectations. Our Trust and Safety team is available 24/7 for emergencies, and we take feedback about that experience seriously. You’re also correct that the Rover Guarantee is not insurance; it’s designed to provide reimbursement for certain eligible expenses when something goes wrong during a booking. We appreciate you sharing your experience and encourage anyone with questions about coverage to review the Guarantee terms or contact us at (888) 727-1140. -Brittney
