Let me share a few points about the NVR HW: - The NVR box came with a 110V power cord which is ridiculously thick and bulky for its intended purpose. A thinner cord will do the same job and will be more manageable. - The power switch was installed improperly upside down. I had to pull it out and turn it over. - The USB connector right side up, gotta give them props for that one. Lots of manufacturers screw this one up! - The 2nd HDD cable supplied is a joke, it is about 3" too short to install a secondary HDD in the slot. Who designed this box? Cameras: - Standard 4MP cameras, nothing to write home about. Good night vision, good picture. - 1 camera was bad out of the box, no sound, no night vision. Disappointing QC. Web interface: - Works in many browsers but the camera preview works only in IE after installing an executable of questionable safety. - The language throughout resembles Chinese more than English. It would help if a born English speaker reviewed and corrected the webpage language. It looks shameful. A customer spends so much money on an "American" item just to realize it's just a rebranded Chinese product. Setup: - No setup instructions supplied whatsoever, must connect video and hope for the best. - No HDMI picture off the bat. I thought I had a bad box. I had to find and connect an archaic VGA monitor due to default ancient 4:3 resolution of 1024x768. - The wizard itself is pretty useless on its own, it requires one to borrow not only a smart phone but a smart phone with a data plan. - The network setup does not allow to renew network configuration, a reboot is necessary which kills cameras and recording for a few minutes. - The Search button for cameras is useless - it constantly says to delete cameras before adding more which is not possible because the UI does not allow deletion of cameras from the list. Need to edit a camera. PC SW: - The Revo Ultra Remote program does not respond to system messages, causing the system to hang. - The program does not comply with system color scheme causing the UI to be unreadable under certain conditions. - The program writes temp files files into C:\ where no program should ever write. This is a horrible breach of security. See next item. - The program requires elevation even though it is not an administrative program, only to write the temp files into C:\. This is a cardinal sin in programming. - The program takes a long time to launch, around a minute - compared to the mobile apps, is is atrociously slow. - Live View - opening a camera to view full-screen in full resolution on a PC yields a blank black screen. Aftermarket cameras work. So Revo SW cannot play its own cameras. This needs to be addressed badly. - Keyboard support is lacking, need to grab the mouse to do basic tasks that are normally accomplished from the keyboard. - While viewing a live camera feed, there is no way to switch to playback. One has to exit the live view and open the playback tab and try to find the right camera. The mobile apps support this, though. It would be great if the PC SW could do this. - Playback does not yield any picture (on PC), need to buy a mobile device for playback. That is very inconvenient for the user. That's the whole point of having a camera system. - Playback shows only 1.5 days available, even though there are two weeks of recordings. Playback on the direct feed or in mobile apps shows all available recorded footage. iOS App: - Allows for playback of footage and allows to view more than last 1.5 days, however it always plays back in full 4MP which taxes the network BW and the receiving device greatly. - After the latest app update, the playback is now much slower and just shows stills every few seconds. Utterly useless if one needs to review footage. - The app does not allow any configuration of cameras. - Video recordings fail to include sound, all recordings are surprisingly silent. - Video recordings use some unknown codec so once sent off the mobile device, they are unplayable. This necessitates extra labor to convert the video footage on a PC to a common format. Android App: - After logging into online account, no devices are found/shown. The app must be killed and restarted to show online devices. Customer service: - Was surprisingly non-existent. Only a sales agent in the chat who provides an email address for a mailbox that is dead and ignored. For an item that costs so much money, better customer service would go a long way. - The phone number for calls works only during business hours on a weekday. There is no voicemail mailbox. So a customer with a daytime job is SOL at this point. All-in-all, the HW is good, customer service non-existent and the SW is lacking so much that it just adds insult to injury.

Been trying to get an issue with the VPN so i can monitor cameras from mobile device. Each time i write a request for help, it does get answered eventually, but my reply to the questions they ask NEVER get answered till I start to 'yell' about a lack of service. Current issue has been going 11/12, with the last question asked by REVO and answered on 12/15. Still waiting for next question/step. Do NOT count on tech help if you can't figure it out yourself.
