Redbox Rx is counterproductive in the convenience aspect
I tried to get my medication from RedBox Rx primarily out of convince. I’ve used the same medication for headache and migraine prevention at the same dose for years now. However, recently life has been incredibly busy to even visit my doctor or pick up a prescription in person. Since I’ve used other online prescription services such as Nurx for several years now and I’ve always been a happy customer, I decided to give RedBox Rx a try. I knew the medication I wanted and the dose because I’ve used it for a long time now and filled out the appropriate health questionnaire. All this is pretty standard with other online prescriptions services I’ve used in the past. I paid the $20 provider fee as well which is all standard in my experience. The issue came when I received a text saying that I needed to send a copy of a recent CMP blood test before getting prescribed my medication and sent to my home. Well, that was $20 in the garbage. I think people use online prescription sites like Nurx and RedBox Rx out of convenience. That’s exactly why I switched to getting my birth control through Nurx for the past 5 years to avoid all the doctor hassle and prescription pick up hassle. They don’t take my insurance, so I pay out of pocket but it’s worth it for the convenience. It just seems to me so absurd and counter productive to have to go to the doctor get a CMP blood test and then have to send a copy over to RedBox Rx if I am precisely using this service to avoid all that hassle in the first place. I’m willing to pay out of pocket for the convenience of not having to go to the doctor and then the pharmacy in person every month for a non controlled medication that I’ve been taking for years now. If I would have known this beforehand, I wouldn’t have paid the $20 fee. I would simply make the time to go my primary care doctor, get the blood work and prescription, and the pick up the prescription at my pharmacy all for free covered with my insurance. But I just want to avoid the hassle. If RedBox Rx would have told me everything I needed to get done before paying the $20 fee and taking the time to fill out the survey I would have avoided all that hassle and gone to my regular doctor in person for free from the start or simply used another online prescription service.

I'm very sorry that you feel this way Elizabeth, but patient safety is very important to us. Sometimes it isn't appropriate to prescribe certain medications without a more comprehensive medical history due to past medical conditions and/or medications you've taken or are currently taking. If you would like to reach out to us at 844-733-2697, you may speak to a pharmacist free of charge who may be able to provide additional details on why the bloodwork is required. We would also like to make you aware that should you not be prescribed a medication after your provider visit, it is RedBox Rx policy that you will be refunded for that visit.
