The claim process was seamless
The claim process was seamless. I submitted my claim with documentation needed , and in two days I had a notice of completion. Following week received the reimbursement check , which enabled me to make a large payment toward the charges on my care credit card for the hospital care, thank you

Claim process
Speed of claim reconciliation has been amazing. The ease of submitting our claim was straightforward. When dealing with a dog who is sick, this makes all the difference to a worried family.

The pre-existing clause is not clear
The pre-existing clause is not clear. My claim was denied due to "Pre-existing condition. There was no diagnosis at the prior to the insurance start date. The diagnosis was made at the time of his visit. If there was no diagnosis prior to the start date of the insurance, how can it be a pre-existing condition. Thinking about cancelling policy all together. I did read through the all of the policy documents and restrictions, and the wording is not clear. They just want your money. There is no compassion for the pet. Highly dissatisfied. Think carefully before using Pumpkin Pet Insurance.

Hi Maria. We definitely understand it can be frustrating when a claim is not approved. Like most providers, we do not provide coverage for pre-existing conditions. This means that if something occurs, or was showing signs or symptoms prior to enrollment or during the waiting period, it would not be eligible for coverage even if there was not yet a formal diagnosis. This includes conditions that are related to, secondary, or resultant from a pre-existing condition. Once a claim is filed, it is then processed by a Pumpkin claims team member, all of which have a veterinary medical background. Our claims team uses medical records and documentation provided by your veterinarian in order to determine coverage eligibility. Keep in mind that while we may not be able to offer coverage for pre-existing issues, new unrelated accidents or illnesses may be eligible for coverage.
