Unleashing the Dragon!
Started to rate this a 4.5, but your overall program got me where I wanted to be… soloing by ear. I bought my first guitar almost four years ago, but my skills accelerated with Molly’s CAGED boot camp, Jamie’s beginner insights on playing chords, and Dr. A’s music theory. I started with Dr. A, loved the theoretical background, but hated the sound of all forty licks. They just didn’t sound good to me. I’d trade any one, or two note lick of Molly’s for all forty of his. Not sure if it’s just the key, or what. At any rate, I got to where I needed to go… because you had enough teachers for me to find my own path through their individual approaches. Thank you all… a million times. They say that genius resides in simplicity. Any good teacher knows that. Molly helped me crack the code on soloing… with learning the fretboard using CAGED. Knowing which notes to play, focusing only on the pentatonic scales (everything sounds good scale), and developing the courage to believe in the power of a single note to form a lick…are the essential lessons I learned in her boot camp which helped to release the dragon in my soloing;-). I’m still not a fan of chords, but I’m infinitely better at playing them! Looking forward to learning Level 6 of Molly’s boot camp, and a couple other instructor’s methods… one on jazz, an intermediate level course using the chromatic scale, and the other on R&B… from the young woman in Atlanta. Thank you, again… for the grin on my face while soloing. It was at that moment, playing around with slides, hammer on/offs, and the pentatonic scale when I realized all those beautiful sounds were generated by me. Wow!
