Pickup MusicReviews of pickupmusic.com

I sceptically signed up for the free trial as an intermediate guitarist stuck in a rut after 15 years of playing rock and metal which I had just learned from tabs. Wanting to expand into new genres and styles of playing, after the initial trial, I had absolutely no hesitation about letting the subscription finish, I've not enjoyed playing guitar this much in years and I've learned so much already on the intermediate pathway.

Lessons are methodical and thorough! Teachers are very knowledgeable

I’m 50yrs old now. I’ve been using Pickup Music for just a few months now having used just free online and YouTube videos to try to start my guitar journey. I have played 4 string jazz banjo and also blues harmonica in the past, but it has been many years since I have done either. Trying to fumble through with this method got very tedious and irritating. I thought I’d give Pickup a try, especially with the free trial and haven’t looked back (well only to see how much progress I’ve made). I started off at the Late Beginner level as I had learnt a few chords and simple songs etc. I really enjoy how the lessons are designed, just on the edge off being too difficult (don’t let that put you off) what I’m trying to say is that the structure is such that it keeps you improving and not sitting on your laurels of what you’ve achieved thus far. There’s plenty of variety on what topic is being taught so that you never get bored or feel you’re going over old ground and this is without venturing in to any of the many other topics you can specialise in. After coming up to 3 months now I think, I have competed the Late Beginner level course and am 3/4 or so through the Intermediate level. I still consider myself a beginner guitar player and realise that I have a great deal of learning to go at yet to feel proficient, but the speed of progress you can make with a little effort and consistency is staggering. I wouldn’t have believed it if someone had played what I am currently learning 3 months ago when I couldn’t get my fingers to the correct position for a C chord. I have a ‘in person’ instructor in the wings that I keep considering getting started with to increase my progress and knowledge, but the lesson cost is ove three times as much a month and that is for two 45 minute lessons, so I haven’t looked at that any further yet. It really is a ‘no brainier’ to try the free trial with Pickup. It will be interesting to see where I am in a year and I only have Pickup to thank for that. Richard Sherwin

Best guitar learning course I have tried so far

I've learned CAGED before but always went too fast, my playing is becoming dramatically improved in this series!

I am a late learner (49yrs old!) I have tried since the age of 8 trying to learn and play guitar. I started again during covid and lockdown. I got to a point where I felt stuck, basic chords ok, strumming ok, knew some blues but not really and didn't know where to go. Pickup has reinvigorated my learning experience and having now gone deep in CAGED and Blues, I feel a HUGE amount of progression and no longer feel like a beginner and look forward to my lessons. I can HIGHLY recommend the course and will be renewing my subscription when the time comes. I have tried ALL the big brands out there for learning and I wholeheartedly recommend Pickup Music

I first picked up the guitar at age 12. I'm 55 years old now. But, honestly, I have been stuck "in the box" for most of that time. I've enjoyed being able to dabble on the guitar throughout my life, but any time I tried to really improve my skills and understanding of the instrument and of music in general, I hit a plateau. My discovery of pickupmusic.com has been a game changer though. I completed their "CAGED" pathway, which has unlocked my ability to use the *entire* fretboard with Major, Minor, Major Pentatonic and Minor Pentatonic scales. I'm now building on that with their "Country" learning pathway. Their lessons are truly a game changer and at just over $100 for a YEAR, it is a no-brainer!

If you're like me, where you've played guitar on and off throughout the years and aren't necessarily a beginner, but you're also not an intermediate? Then this course is for you. It has just the right amount of classes that will challenge you and won't get you bored. By the end of the course, you will feel the difference in your playing ability, and others will hear it!
