Margarete
My surviving daughter
My living daughter and I have been in a deep freeze for years. Her older sister died from suicide when she was 39 in 2015. The distance between us weighed heavily on my heart for years. I didn’t know what to do. I spoke to therapists and in other 12 step groups and tried to make amends but it seemed to backfire and not work. I found Catherine online and listened to her initial presentation. This was so supportive and realizing that 25% of adult children in America are estranged from their parents made me feel Not so alone and a failure. Taking her classes and listening to her presentations is giving me a new perspective on being a parent and a mature individual to live my life fully. Her other speakers are also so incredible. I am still processing the modules and since I started I feel a shift already in her responses to my texts, my texts are more supportive of her and my eldest granddaughter does on her own texts me and sends photos. They also post instagrams of the family dogs and I can communicate by my comments back. I feel So much more hopeful in this new era in my life. The torch in some ways has been passed to the next generation and I am understanding my role in it. I was an only child, only 4 cousins, divorced after 25 years to her dad and he stopped communicating with her since she was 14 except attending her sister’s memorials. She is 47 now with three children and a wonderful husband and a wonderful set of parents that have been together over 55 years. I married a second time to an amazing blind fellow and he died in 2018. Becoming a widow was difficult for me and my daughter didn’t know how to be with a wounded mom. I ended up meeting a fellow on line and moved out to the PNW three years ago. That relationship is ending and she finally revealed how much she disliked him and is giving me some good advice to guide me thru this process. Yes our relationship is so much better but I believe it will become even more fulfilling and loving as I continue with the PACT program. It is a very complete, supportive and compassionate group of people led by a dedicated caring professional. Thank you Catherine
