I've bought some products from Overstock over the years, but I haven't in quite some time. I felt they're ads were deceptive and there was always something a little off about their business that caused be to lose faith in them. They could be better now, but with other great alternatives I have no incentive to give them another try.

Award winning customer service? According to who?
I have purchased many items from Overstock and returned a few as well always using Overstocks prepaid return labels. I never had a problem till now. I ordered a pair of black shoes size 7 and they were delivered in white size 7. I thought no problem, I will just return the white pair and order them again in black. Black was no longer available in size 7 so I thought 7.5 should be close enough. The 7.5 arrived and they were to large so I printed the return labels and sent the black 7.5 back along with the white size 7. When I was issued the refund for my returns, Overstock deducted $9 and change from each return. I contacted their award winning customer service to be told if they did not "like" the reason for return they would deduct the $9 if their return label had been used. I explained the mistake on color and size and requested the "return shipping fees" be returned to me. The wonderful customer service rep told me she would attempt to get one of the shipping fees returned. A second later, she came back on the line and said there would be no credit. When I again explained the situation, I was told "It was buyers remorse" WHAT??? That does not even make sense. The Overstock employee was unbelievably rude, condescending and did not seem to care at all that her behavior had just cost their company a customer. Moral of the story, beware of using their prepaid shipping labels to do returns and don't expect much from their award winning customer service. From an ex Overstock customer.

OverPriced & OverHyped
The issue had started back in 2012, and overstock may have had a different management then, but it was than i made my very first purchase there. I had purchase an over 100$ item, it did had ship fast and was very pleased with how it was packed. After a while of owning it, i became displeased with how it worked, so i thought i return it, since on the website they say customers can make returns even after the 30 day, i don't remember how long i had it for but it was not like over a year. Not only would they not give at least a partial refund like they promise , but out of the blue a rude costumer service worker called me, besides emailing, slopping explained they can't give me the full refund and just little store cred. I only got back 10$ for the "refund" and 30$ for store cred, which is basically 40$! a tone less for what i actuality paid, was 60$ or 80$ "too much". Even worst i posted a review of their service treatment and my displeasure with my product on overstock and after they told me it was approved they later deleted it! how rude!.Also no offence but overstock is like third or last in place for sites to buy things, and overstock is no amazon or ebay, they don't sell alot of verity of items, especially in electronics, they do occasionally have discounts on items, but there rarely noticeable and are for items i don't care for, and their electronics are still overpriced. Making the 40$ to me useless as there nothing much of interest for me to buy and for items i do want to buy are way too over priced for the 40$ to show a differences.Their policy are unfair and useless, their overall store is pretentious, overpriced and useless. The overall scenario made me never want to shop there again.

Bad customer service, unreliable, took a week after purchase to say it was out of stock.
“I purchased a bed from overstock and was so excited about how much I saved. I was ok with the possible month it took to receive it because I did it within enough time. After a week of purchase date I got an email stating that the bed was out of stock. It took them a week after purchase to inform me, I have family coming in from out of the country and bought the bed and the mattress for them. If I wanted to buy another bed it would not get to me on time. The coupon I used on the previous bed is now expired. I spoke to customer service to see if they would honor the coupon on a new bed purchase and upgrade my shipping since it was their fault and I got a big fat no. They actually used the words " For your information". Really who talks to customers like that who are upset. I really don't think my request was unreasonable”

Cheap products, altered photos, altered reviews, costly refund process
Overstock specializes in selling cheap Chinese made products at a huge markup price.
The photos are edited to make the items appear nicer than they really are.
The reviews are decided by overstock staff not the customers (they do not let the negative reviews become public)
Overly expensive return shipping label charge will be deducted from your refund

absolute rip off with international postage and tax/duty charges
I dont know why this company sells internationally because they are only good value if you buy in the USA. When it comes to international postage they are con merchants. I wanted to buy a dinner set for £51 and they tried to charge me £45 postage, 23.74 duty / tax (that would be a VAT rate of 46.5% even though VAT is only 20% in the UK). The total bill came to £120.79. When I post similar items to the US I usually charge around £25

Incorrect item received, even with multiple returns. Partial Refund Only.
On May 29th, I ordered 2 pairs of the Ray Ban polarized wayfarers--one for myself, and one for my boyfriend. 1 order, 2 pairs. Simple enough, right? When I received them, they were not the polarized pair that I had ordered. I requested a return, which they were more than willing to do. I sent back the 2 pairs, no problem, and I had them ship me 2 new, replacement pairs of the sunglasses free of shipping charges.
However, here's the kicker: the individual i spoke to in customer care only authorized the return of one pair, rather than the 2 that I had ordered. So, I returned both original sunglasses, but received only one replacement pair in the second order. Even worse: this replacement order was STILL incorrect, so I returned that as well. The problem? I've only been refunded for one pair, rather than the 2 pairs I originally purchased. So, i bought 2 pairs, returned both, received one replacement pair, and now the record of the replacement pair being returned is missing? Or the record of my return of my original order is missing? Either these two possibilities, or they did not record that they had only sent me one, rather than two, replacement pairs. I believe that overstock practices poor record-keeping practices, so it is up to the customer to be on top of it.
I've talked to customer care, and they looked into the case. On hour later, i received a confirmation of my return, and notification that a replacement pair was sent. I don't want a replacement pair, overstock. I want a refund for the 2nd pair so that I don't have to deal with you ever again!! I called customer care yet again, and the guy i spoke to told me he would send me a shipping label. For what? For the pair I sent back already?? He then said he has no information in his records that I returned the replacement pair, to which i provided a tracking number. If I received confirmation that I sent out BOTH shipments and they were received, AND this information is available in my account overview, surely overstock would have that information! After providing the tracking #, I was issued a refund. Time will tell if I actually get this refund, and if this refund is correct.
Overall, the massive headache of multiple and erroneous returns and lack of competence on the part of overstock customer care is not worth it. Had I not kept a record of the shipments, and when they were returned, and if I didn't set up an account and monitor my purchases, I wouldn't have been able to do anything about the issue. This is my first experience with overstock, and it will be my last, thankyouverymuch.

Overstock = Overpriced
While I have bought from them in the past, I stopped once I got smart and started actually comparing prices. I've consistently found that their 'over stocked' price was as high or higher than MSRP or the price found at other sites. This is especially true of cameras, lens, and any tools.
And their customer service, the one time I tried to use it, was ........well, it would be charitable to say awful.
My suggestion, if you find something on Overstock, look around and see if you can't find it for a better price at some other site.
