First time delivery failed due to the packing being damaged. The second delivery took another month, as the company waited for the damaged delivery to asses damage, determine that a new door is to be stained and shipped. As soon as the company was informed of the damaged door, they could have immediately worked on a new door and shipped it back in a week, which did not happen. I am yet to open the new door package and will see how things look.

Stumbled across Nicks Building online when looking for a custom craftsman door. Initial contact was via email and did not get a response. I then called a few weeks later and although the product was what we wanted I felt all the questions were coming from me. No information was offered freely to help with my decision making. No details were shared in terms of timing, shipping, hardware, all were only answered when asked. We were never told that expediting our order was possible, it was only after we placed the order that our contractor asked if its possible to expedite and when I called to find out I was told it was possible for an extra 25% ... would have been good to know during process. The stain samples also took over a week to ship even though I had received a call saying they would ship next day ... I had to send two emails and call to find out samples had not shipped for a week and would be shipping the next day. When it came to shipping, again I had to call to find out when and if the door had shipped. Finally received email confirmation letting me know tracking details and that ABF freight had our door and I would hear from them in day or two to arrange delivery. Never heard from ABF freight and no phone number available on the link we were sent! Sent two emails to ABF as that's the only contact details provided and finally called them after 5 days as we heard nothing and the delivery date was looming. Reached out to Nicks who proved phone number and when I called they seemed surprised that nobody had called me as the door was on the truck for delivery next day!! As much as I love the door, the process was really frustrating as all the questions were from me and no information was proactively given. Got to believe customers would have better experience if staff were more proactive and talked through the entire process with potential customers to make sure they understand the timeline!!

Trying to get an estimate on the door before ordering was a pain in the neck--the sales rep was lax and not on his game. When i called back (after multiple times) and spoke to another rep the service was better. It depends who you get. Communicating the progress of my door was not forthcoming from customer service after the order was placed. The amount of time for fabrication was fine--but I was the one who had to check in. All this aside, which was manageable, the delivery to my area was the worst. They shipped my door to a distribution center in Albany NY--along with sending me a long email with delivery instructions, info that the shipping company would contact me for delivery etc. Ok. The shipping company was supposed to call and tell me a delivery date and 4-6 hour window -- HOWEVER the truck driver called me when he was 20 minutes away and slightly lost. If I'm taking receipt of a 500+ lb crate I kinda need more of a heads up. Not cool! The company should know the shipping company they are pairing with better.

I ordered a knotty adler door from Nicks. The door came on time, however, on the top of the trim there was a large burnt out knot. Right on the inner edge of the trim and the actual door, thus breaking the seam and looking very unaesthetic, not to mention that if I need to sand this door: I will probably cut my hand when it slips in the hole. I sent them lots of pictures that clearly showed this. Contacted Customer Service and I was promptly told that the hole on the trim is not viewed by the company as an issue. They are supposedly sending putty and stain so I can attempt on fixing the hole on the trim, but one thing for sure: they lost my business and now I have a door that could have been so beautiful, but now I have a door that has a hole in the trim..... If you can't personally pick the door in their warehouse: I would be very weary ordering from them
