Used Nicks for two entry garage doors for my new garage. Doors took 4 weeks longer than quoted but when they did arrive they looked beautiful and felt as sturdy and nice as the 100 year old mahogany doors currently on my home. I was satisfied until approximately 4 years later when the bottom of both doors rotted out by the seam in the exact same spot although they are on opposite sides of the garage. Replaced both doors with Simpson doors and haven't had an issue three years later. Keep I'm mind that these doors are solid wood but they are partial board cores that litter all resolve when water gets in the door through a crack or unsealed portion of the door. If you have a damp or wet entry these are not the door you want cause you will buy another door in a few years.

Their performance: - They do not stick to delivery dates. They were weeks late. - Technical performance not acceptable, the holes for the door hardware cut into the doors do not fit to the ones in the jamb. All doors need to be reworked to make them closed. - Pocket door hardware wrong. They delivered hardware for a dual sliding door. - One order for two more doors were supposed to be delivered 2 weeks ago. I paid them completely plus an acceleration fee. Still no info when delivery will occur. - The 8 ft mahogany doors itself look great!

The quality of the doors are excellent and the sale side was easy as it should be. Operationally after you place your order is poor. They use outside companies and once you place your order you are in limbo. I made several attempts to track items that were due and never showed. They used a trucking company that did not have a truck large enough for my 3 doors so they say in their warehouse for days with no updates. I took two days off from work as they were scheduled to be delivered and they never showed. They asked if I could come get the doors one and half hours away? I finally got management involved as Nicks doesn't follow through with the shipping peice to get this taken care of. I was finally told they would be at my door at 9am next day as they knew it was holding up the job and they never showed. After waiting 6 hours I was told they would be there late. Nicks should own the process from start to finish to ensure customers are getting their orders instead of dealing with separate companies.

I recently purchased interior doors from Nick's. They were mahogany and I wanted them pre-hung. I assumed, apparently wrongly, that the jambs would be mahogany as well. I was surprised when I opened the crate to find Poplar jambs. When I called and spoke with Mike to express my displeasure with the jambs that did not match he could not have cared less or been less helpful. He said I got what I ordered and mahogany doors come with poplar jambs. He said I could send them back if I wanted but we were under a time crunch so we had to use what they sent. The order did not say what the jambs were at all. I will not be ordering from Nick's again.

Project was delayed due to timing issues with the door. Finish samples were not received in a timely manner in order to keep the door finishing on the 5-6 week timeline proposed by Nick's. The door was ordered on 6-27 and did not arrive until 8-24.

Ordered a door, pleased with it... However the communication at the sales side was unacceptable. We were told there was a two week turn around, but after third week started calling, office staff told us that no one should have told us or our client two weeks but they did say two, also never said that production was not going during week of July 4th. So instead of 2 weeks it took 4 weeks to get product. One of the reasons we went with Nicks is because they said 2 weeks, we had a local company that told us 3-4... Also email said door arriving on Tuesday, came Monday and we were not at that job site that day had to stop and leave one job to go to that house.

Watch the "convenience fee" on their bill. What this actually means is they refuse to pay any charges for credit card payments so you have to pay them. If you are a builder with a large warehouse and a loading dock, terrific. If you want a delivery to a construction/renovation site good luck. Their crating doesn't take into account what will actually fit on a lift gate, at least it didn't for ours. We had to schedule a 3 hour trip to an ABF terminal to pickup our doors. Nick's Building only sells doors and slabs. They sell doors not closet solutions. You have to go find a hardware provider to specify and supply the tracks for bypass doors. This extra step adds time and cost to all the "savings" from working with Nick's. The marketing suggested solid oak doors but what we received uses filler material and veneer in portions of the door. These people are looking out for Numero Uno, be forewarned!
